How much do we pay psychologists to find our shadow side? We pay thousands.Once again, Astrology comes to the rescue with little to no financial loss. Hekate is our shadow side akin to Jung’s archetypes. Haven’t you always wanted to know what lurks in your own darkness? Even the most self aware person knows he is seeing just a mere fraction of what is actually there. As with all asteroids, they come to the fore when they are conjunct other asteroids or pivotal places in the chart such as the Ascendent. I am doing a chart of a young lady with Eros conjunct Hekate. That prompted this article. In this case, her erotic nature would be the shadow side of which she is unaware or partially aware. Find out what conjuncts your Hekate and study away.It is what you don’t want to face about yourself. In synastry, if someone’s planets or asteroids touch your Hekate they will show you the shadow of that which touches your Hekate. Conversely, you will do the same to them. How fascinating are the Asteroids?

In my own chart HEKATE is on 8 Virgo conjunct asteroid LILITH on 6 Virgo, and it makes a Kite.formation, with a Grand trine in Earth signs, consisting of:

Hekate 8 Virgo

Lucifer 6 Taurus

The one man who brought the most and deepest transformation into my life, and it cut REALLY deep, and at times the emotional suffering seemed unbearable (but facillitated necessary mental and emotional growth) had:

I guess part of what is "in the dark" of my soul and needs to be triggered is "expressive creativity", which makes sense given my admiration of artists, especially performers.

but of course with my "inner b!tch" (Lilith) being connected to it, things get more than just a little tricky.
Plus one word that describes asteroid Lilith (as opposed to the Black Moon) very well is "equality".
Threaten the concept of equality, and you might meet my Hekate (and Lilith) face to face.
of course she would unleash her wrath on you in very Virgo-like ways, Mercurial, analytical, through observation and criticism. She wouldn´t go around and punch people int he face or dissolve into tears and resort to emotional blackmail.
her weapon of choice would be words, usually fwell reflected words.
(it also falls into the 9th house of beliefs)

So Hekate kind of sounds like Lilith. Except with out the vengeful rebellious attitude to men.

Ha! Smack on my Venus (8'36) in fact. My Hekate is ALSO in Virgo, but out of range (19'46). Not sure how much I can count a semisextile, but it's exactly semisextile my Sun, and 1.5 orb from the same with my Pluto.

You know, something NEVER occurred to me in the synastry I have with (for convenience sake, we'll call him 'Hatter' in honour of his currently signature role) until you pointed this out. While I've got a weak conjunction from his Pluto to my Venus, (counted, only because of how oddly felt it seemed to be, and that it completed mutual Venus-Pluto aspects, which are SO clearly there) I never even THOUGHT about how that Pluto is RIGHT on my Hekate.

It makes sense. He DID bring out something from me I hadn't experienced before. He wasn't really sure what to do with it, (just pretended to) and it would actually take years before he could accept it - in both of us.

I also agree that there's a lot more to Jung's Shadow than Hekate. She's definitely part of it, though. I'm a fan of all the 'dark goddess' 'roids.

My Hekate conj my Juno 1° in Aries. Both are retrograde. It's also opposite my Venus 1°.

Well, i do feel it. I worked with runes and bio-energetics even before i started studying astrology and found out i had all those aspects. I also had past life dreams were i actually was a witch. IQ once told me after seeing my chart with those witchy asteroids that it has to do with sorcery and alchemy in my previous lifelines, or something like that. And that there is a strong pull to it this lifetime as well, and the feminine side of it is emphasized.
