What is the general effect of asteroids on the descendant in synastry?

i.e. A's Aphrodite, Cupid or Adonis conjunct B's descendant might mean attraction of a mysterious kind?

But what generally do they mean? So, one person's Amor/Valentine/Karma whatever conjunct another's descendant? How does it work?

well it would be the same effect as the planets except asteroids are so cool (not that planets aren't) it's just that you can look up all the meanings of each asteroid that your descendent is conjuncting or your partner's.

I do think asteroids have a softer more subtle or mysterious effect, and perhaps more when out of sight such as conjunct another's descendent.

But how does it work when one person's planet is conjunct another's descendant? Then I can try and extend the meaning to asteroids as you suggest.

Cheers

Any other thoughts from lindaland on how the descendant works in synastry? ie. when it is conjuncted by another person's asteroids/planets, ie. one person's Amor/Valentine/Karma/whatever conjunct another's descendant?

I have always had a hard time feeling out WHAT the DSC does and how it operates--in practical terms. I can feel out the other angles but not that one.People say we project out what is in our 7th house. I get that BUT how do we feel it when someone's planet/asteroid HITS our 7th house. I would love some input. Thanks!

I think that generally speaking, you could assume that in synastry, whatever planet is aspecting your 7th house from your partner's chart would basically feel like a permanent transit.

So apply the same logic of what it might feel like to have, say, transiting Pluto on your descendant/moving through your 7th house. Whenever you are around that person, you would feel their Pluto through the filter of your 7th house.

If you applied that same logic to asteroids, then you could also imagine what it might be like to have Amor or Valentine travelling through your 7th all the time - essentially when you are around this one person. And for an asteroid like Karma, it seems to me that it would be about having relationship/partnership karma with that person.

Yep, there's something I too can't quite put my finger on about how the descendant works!

I see what you mean (I think). Basically you are saying the descendant person would be activated by sensing the planet/asteroid energy coming from the planet/asteroid.

From the planet/asteroid person, I can only think that being around the Descendant person makes them feel their planet/asteroid - ie. it is constantly being activated around the other person by not directly by their appearance, by some mysterious 'other' part of them that can't been seen, and so the planet/asteroid might be confused by their feelings?

I can only imagine Amor/Valentine/Venus whatever conjunct Descendant really activates love feelings in the planet/asteroid. Karma activates feelings of fatefulness, etc. Isis might give the feeling of the other being the ideal wife, etc..

I am open to the idea that the descendant person doesn't feel it. Unless they are married.

People's planets aspecting our chart are really just like permanent transits so a person's Venus touching our planet gives us that feeling all the time. Or a person's venus on our Descendant may make us feel that they would make a good partner since their venus is constantly activating our 7th house.

I think whether or not the Descendant person feels it is partially up to other aspects between the two charts. If you have the basics of good synastry together, then you're more likely to feel individual aspects more strongly I think. Also, I believe that it comes down to destiny - you might have someone's Valentine, Amor, NN and Vertex on your Descendant but if you're not meant to know that person then you just pass each other by.

Maybe yes, but I wonder if it is your own Valentine or Amor you sit up and notice the ASC/DSC person. I've noticed I noticed people who have planets conjunct my Valentine - I'm thinking Mars and Venus, but it probably extends further.

Personally I don't think the node or vertex alone add up to anything loving, I know several people born in one or two years whose nodes conjunct my ASC/DSC.
