Hi Friends,
I am back, very very exhausted and very very happy. YuTing, I was very close to Hong Kong Island, stayed in the New Territory near Lantau so that my brats could enjoy Disneyland. 2 days non stop, they dragged me into every ride, with even the wife behaving like a child. Also went to Macau but the place seemed soulless, I was very uncomfortable with the vibes there. I have only praises for Hong Kong and Hong Kong citizens. A few days are just not enough, one needs a fortnight to properly enjoy the nature tours. One very peculiar thing was the affection given to my kids. Dozens of Chinese families were requesting their snaps as if they were celebrities. Taxi Drivers gave me a discount rather than accept a tip. Just unbelievable. ------------------

So happy you enjoyed HK
With summer arriving, you should see the beaches. I love the mountain trails too. If you have more time next time, let me know ahead and I can recommend some good spots (not for regular tourists) Glad you left right before Labor Day break in Mainland China, otherwise you might have mistaken certain Mainland Chinese tourist behaviour as ours. Though not everyone, some could be quite obnoxious. As for Macau, I stayed there for a few weeks years ago on a project. It is a gamble town and the casinos there are "serious business", not like the family fun feel of say Las Vegas. Quite haunting.
HK residents go there for gambling and food. Not much else to do. Welcome back in any case. We do miss your wisdom here
