Hi there. Another amazing site to utilize is www.serennu.com Using the ephemeris program there, you can enter birth data and get a list of the position of 1000 asteroids. You can sort by name of asteroid, or by degree. You can see a circle chart of positions of 100 or so major bodies; you can get a list of all aspects to those bodies, and a list of transits happening from any point in time (down to the second) to your chart; as well as compare aspects between two charts. --Pretty remarkable resource, and for free (donations accepted).
(However, I do find that in using their "Additional Objects" feature entering more than one asteroid numbers results in error messages.)
As far as lists of asteroids, here is a wikipedia page, listing all the known, named asteroids/minor planets (currently over 17,000 I think) with a brief description of the meaning (origin) of the name:
