Hi everyone,

Can you please help me understand what this conjunction means? Musa is asteroid 600.

Hopefully I've posted this in the right section!?

My Natal placements:

Musa conjunct ASC (Orb 0)

Musa 19'11" Pisces
ASC 19'10" Pisces

Musa is Greek word for the 9 Greek muses (see article below), so I am currently looking for where the others are in my chart, incase that is also relevant - can someone tell if it is?

The 9 muses are:

Kalliope(Calliope)-Muse of Epic Poetry=22
Klio(Clio)-Muse of History=84
Erato-Muse of Lyric or love poetry=62
Euterpe-Muse of Music=27
Melpomene-Muse of Tragedy (IE: tragic plays)=18
Polyhymnia-Muse of Choral poetry=33
Terpsichore-Muse of Dance=81
Thalia-Muse of Comedy and playful poetry=23
Urania-Muse of Astronomy=30
(http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16908)

Much thanks in advance! I am very excited about learning more about Musa.

<3 C.B.

p.s. Here is the most succinct Musa (asteroid 600) article I could find. Resource link at end of segment.

____________________________________________

600 Musa (Greek):
The term “music” derives from the Greek “Musa” (singular form for the 9 Muses of antiquity who embodied the arts). Originally, every artistic or spiritual activity was called music. In Plato's Politeia (The Republic) he mentions that "Music is for the soul what gymnastics is for the body."

Music. Artistic and spiritual inspiration. Creativity. Lyrical talent. Writing talent.

_____________________________________________

The 9 Muses (Greek):

The Muses, daughters of Zeus and the Goddess of Memory, Mnemosyne, were charged with the responsibility of inspiring poets and musicians and promoting the arts and sciences.
No banquet on Mount Olympus was complete without them. Seated near the throne of their father, the nine sisters entertained the guests, singing not only of the greatness of Zeus, but about the marvelous feats of the Greek heroes and the creation of the heavens and the earth with all its wondrous creatures.
Their influence was profound. By their praising valiant behavior, thereby etching the names in history, the Muses encouraged further heroism.
Although they usually sang only for the immortals, they occasionally performed at events honoring heroic mortals, such as the funeral of the Achilles, the fallen hero of the Trojan War.

They were described as "having one mind, their hearts set upon song and their spirit free from care". The Muses often acted in concert, all were friends and followers of the God Apollo. On many occasions their wise counsel, as well as their soothing diversions, kept him from making poor decisions.
Their gift, according to Hesiod, was that "though a man has sorrow and grief in his soul, when . . . the Muses sing, at once he forgets his dark thoughts and remembers not his troubles." A precious gift indeed.
The Muses remain among us today as the patrons of the fine arts and the inspiration for creative thought, Mnemosyne's daughters of wit and charm.

Just reading this, they symbolise for me the point of origin of the creative force I channel when I write... the amazing feeling I get from that is WHY I write... does that answer your question?

You channel the creative force. This is who you are! Does this make sense. This seems to be what Muse on the ASC would mean!

Hey there ail221!

Wow!! How close are your conjunctions of Musa & Moon to ASC? What is that like for you? Are you creative in any particular way?

Like you I have lots of aspects to the other 9 muses too. Most of them are in house 4 along with Pallas, and create a stellium across my IC with mars/venus which is effectively square Musa on the AC!

The conjunction of most interest to me is Kalliope which is as close to my IC, as Musa is to my ASC. Orb of only 1 second. So, Musa on AC is square Muse Kalliope on IC.

-- Does anyone know the implications of this for me, please? ---

The IC Stellium:

*Rigel 16 Gemini
Mars 17 Gemini
Venus 17 Gemini
Muse Kalliope 18 Gemini
Nessus 18 Gemini
IC 18 Gemini
*Capella 21 Gemini
Aten 23 Gemini
Muse Urania 25 Gemini
Pallas 29 Gemini
Muse Erato 0 Cancer
Angel 0 Cancer

Other muse aspects include:
Euterpe conjunct Sun (orb 7)
Thalia conjunct Saturn (orb 6)

Thanks for asking! I look forward to hearing your placements if you are willing to share!

- C.B.

Examining the Muses within the realm of Career choices seems applicable.
Poet W B Yeats had Erato, the muse of poetry, conjunct his Moon.

Elvis Presley had Euterpe, the Muse of Music, conjunct his North Node in sensual Capricorn. Joni Mitchell has Euterpe conjunct her Mars in articulate Gemini.

Many professional singers would have the lyric music or muse of music conjunct their NN, MC, Mercury, Sun, or Venus. If your searching for a link to the past i.e. pastlife if you believe in them a aspect to the asteroid Sphinx, Geometrica, Giza, or any other object based ancient symbols. Urania for a example would appear in a astrologist chart but she was also the goddess of prophecy and the heavens.

"Muses were generous with their skills and willing to teach others. They taught the nymph Echo to play music, instructed the Egyptian Sphinx her riddle, and trained the great poet Musaeus. Kalliope, the eldest, often attended the birth of royal nobles and gave (or withheld if she wished) the gift of the Muses as the immortals deemed fit. Mortals who were blessed by the Muses, could use the beauty of song or the spirit of dance to heal the sick and to comfort the heartbroken."
"Calliope, for example, was called on by Zeus to arbitrate the dispute between Aphrodite, the goddess of romance and beauty, and Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, when both fell in love with the handsome Adonis. Her wise decision, to allow him to spend part of the year with each of them, seemed to satisfy all of them.

When Athena rescued Pegasus, the flying horse, shortly after his birth, the goddess entrusted the Muses with his care. The young colt, excited to meet the lovely Muses, kicked the side of the Mountain, causing springs to gush out of the side of the mountain. Springs and wells both became sacred symbols of the Muses, representing the fountains of inspiration that they provided. Urania took the major responsibility for caring for Pegasus, and prophesied his future heroism as well as his eventual place amongst the stars in the heavens."'

Some people compare the Muses to nymphes or demi-gods but they were full goddesses of inspiration, the arts and sciences and guidance. In a way they were the bridge between humans and the gods, they told the stories of greek heroism which could have increased the interaction between the two groups, they blessed children with skills and taught humans about the arts and sciences, and they settle disputes between gods.

The best bet would to be to examine each individual muse then add fixed stars. Also conjunctions are usually valid up to 4 degrees in natal charts but yes stick with 1 degrees for fixed stars. The information involving rigel "It is said that splendor and honors fell to the lot of those who were born under it. Associated with fame, wealth, and originality. It is said to give a strong and dignified nature, self-confidence, inconstancy, arrogance, violence, impiety, and prosperity in trade and particularly in voyages or abroad, but danger of treachery and poison. It was thought by the Romans to be very harmful to cattle and productive of storms. By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Aleph and the 1st Tarot Trump "The Juggler" (The Magician). With Venus: Honors or favors in middle life, good and influential marriage especially if female.
With Mars: Unruly, ingenious occupied with mechanical matters, great military preferment".

My info:

Asc within 3 degrees conjunct Musa in Gemini conjunct Gemini moon at 1'degrees within 1 orb
Trine Aqua MC 4 orbs
opposite Black Moon lilith 2 orbs

Kalliope in Pisces square Moon exact, sextile Taurus Mars exact, trine Pallas 1 orb
Square Musa exact

Klio conjunct Mercury within 3 orbs conjunct Ceres, opposite NN exact and MC 2 orbs
sextile Terpsichore in Gemini 1 orb
square Juno in Scorpio 1 orb

Erato in Libra trine Euterpe in gemini exact, both sextile Mercury 2 orbs
Erato square Neptune exact
sextile Ceres 1 orb
Erato conjunct Thalia exact

Euterpe in Gemini trine Thalia exact
sextile ceres 2 orbs
Quincux pluto 1orb
conjunct Terpsichore

Melpomene in Virgo sextile Sun 2 orbs, Jupiter exact and trine Saturn exact
Melpomene sextile Urania exact.

Polyhymnia in Taurus square Mercury and Ceres 1 orb, NN 3 orbs
opposite Juno exact and Pluto 4 orbs
trine Neptune 2 orbs

Terpsichore in Gemini sextile Moon 1orb
trine NN 2 orbs and MC 4 orbs
sextile Ceres 2 orbs
Erato trine Terpsichore 3 orbs
Quincux Juno exact

Thalia in libra sextile Moon and Ceres 2 orbs

Urania in Cancer conjunct Sun and Chiron 2 orbs
Urania conjunct Jupiter exact, and opposite Saturn exact

Not sure how to describe how those placements "feel" art and music have just always been a part of my life. My grandfather was a artist,my mother was a painter, and so was I up until I entered University. I attended a art/vocational HS and before that I took part in many art competitions and won. I suppose I am a bit dramatic and I love live theater, and I play a few instruments.

Ail221! Ah! Great post. :-)

Love what you wrote about the muses and lots of other fascinating bits of information! Wow. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge... I have soooo many questions now!

Looking at your moon/musa/AC -- I'm guessing you must find it so natural and easy to express your emotions in art and music then?? Such a beautiful gift to express emotions creatively... I often feel sorry for those who can't or don't!

What about your Klio/mercury - what does that bring? Are you into history or historical arts or teaching??? Curious...

I also love what you found about those creatives! Very cool...

Here are some writers/creatives I just looked up:

J.K.Rowling has Musa conjunct sun in Leo and Kalliope conjunct Pallas in Aquarius.

Isaac Asimov has Kalliope and Erato both conjunct mercury in aquarius!

Walt Disney - WOW -
1. Musa conjunct sun in sag conjunct uranus conjunct Terpsichore conjunct IC
2. Thalia cojunct Chiron conjunct mars conjunct saturn conjunct jupiter
3. Urania conjunct Klio conjunct Venus
4. Melpomene conjunct Pallas
5. Kalliope conjunct the DC
6. Euterpe conjunct NN
7. Polyhymnia conjunct mercury - the only Muse asteroid not conjunct is
8. Erato trine Neptune, Pluto and midheaven!!!

Pretty amazing to see all that in there...

I think this is amazing. Can't wait to hear more of these.

I'm *very* interested in what you wrote about Giza and such asteroids. I do believe in past lives and have knowledge of some of them via dreaming & meeting others whom I share memories with. Know that is weird for some to comprehend, and was for me at first, but I now accept it as a fact and tip of the iceberg ;-) I have not known this could be indicated in the chart by place name asteroids...!?? Could you point me at where to research this?

As for Rigel with mars and venus... haha. Double mix there... And funny that I believe every single perceived negative comes with a positive gift in life of love and that such polarities are there to be dissolved in awareness and love. Maybe that is the result of that placement in my chart?? LOL.

So much to learn. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed that post of yours.

"Looking at your moon/musa/AC -- I'm guessing you must find it so natural and easy to express your emotions in art and music then??"
When I was younger yes I had a lot more disciplined now that energy has become more erratic probably due to the mercury energy.

"What about your Klio/mercury - what does that bring? Are you into history or historical arts or teaching??"
Yes I love history and I probably should have majored in history instead of political science which is still kind of like history just with more of focus on politics and the military. Art history was also a part of my vocational training in HS another major I also considered in university but unrealistic to pursue as a career. Klio conjunct my Leo Mercury does translate in to the creative arts with history.

I can definitely see how J.K Rowling has Musa conjunct her leo sun, leo is the sign for creatively and the arts.

For past life info actually you can search this site for information, probably the best place to search for information on past lives and asteroids. Perhaps Mystic medusa and Kim Falconer's site
Asteroids

5249 Giza
896 Sphinx
13096 Tigris
13963 Euphrates
1970 Sumeria
22260 Ur
15417 Babylon
5805 Babel
56000 Mesopotamia
313 Chaldaea
9500 Camelot
9499 Excalibur
3811 Karma
55555 DNA
37452 Spirit
6583 Destinn
33154 Talent
19 Fortuna
1198 Atlantis
443 Photographica
376 Geometria
2365 Interkosmos

For name asteroids unless you have a common name you might have to be a bit liberal with name asteroids but you can choose which one you feel fits the best for you.

"Double mix there... And funny that I believe every single perceived negative comes with a positive gift in life of love and that such polarities are there to be dissolved in awareness and love. Maybe that is the result of that placement in my chart?? LOL"

Possibly I don't really view interpretations of fixed stars concrete simply because people are meant to live multiple lifetimes so regardless of whatever negative they have done in the past there can be redemption to some extent. Negative can become positives and if those negatives don't become positives for themselves then it will become a positive for someone.

Hey Ail221!

Fascinating about your Klio and Musa and the way they manifest in your life.

I also found Asteroid 57 Mnemosyne - the mother of the 9 muses! "Memory" (A titan, mother of the muses, daughter of Gaia + uranus = mother of inspiration - she names all the things of the earth. Goddess of teachers.)

Mnemosyne is very widely conjunct my sun (orb 7)

Also, thanks so much for those links. Looked up those asteroids you listed and found some interesting aspects, numerous conjunctions plus 2 grand trines, a lot including the muses too. How are people reading these asteroids in trines and conjunctions with personal & outer planets etc?

Thank you in advance, again!
