Very rare.
It appears to be a karmic lesson based on Genetic Memory. The lady today appreciates the man's past race, the man today feels some intolerance towards the maternal race of the lady's past lifetime. Thus, he may grow to avoid dislike of any race thanks to this friendship or relationship.

Thanks. I would never have guessed this by myself.
It's oddly fitting too. They were both born in the same country but they have different origins. The man is in his homeland but the woman's family came there at some point in history from another country. Both countries have a long complicated history together.
