I have both conjunct my moon. Scary. I am legally blind in my left eye and of course worry about blindness. My right eye is still good. Besides eyesight, what else does it do? All are in my 4th house (Cancer).

Castor - Constellation of words

Pollux -
Constellation of words

- out of curiosity... ^^; If you don't mind me asking (stars are my niche really)~

Are you very close to your siblings (blood or through marriage), do you have any adoptive brothers (or simply cousins/friends who were/are so close you'd consider them like brothers)?

Unfortunately, when stars are mentioned here, it is usually the malefic interpretations that people are familiar with.

So, while the affliction of having vision problems for those with Sagittarius or Gemini stars upon their planets or even axes, may be accurate to an extent... the stars as popularly described from their 2nd century texts revised in the middle ages interpretations of occultists, became the standard reference for astrologers while the actual uses the original texts had examined from ancient cultures who used stars regularly with all celestial bodies, simply faded into obscurity... or were loss to time.

What we have from the surviving lore and 12th-18th century texts/interpretations is a marginal explanation for placements/contacts... and the use of them/their importance to many astrologers today is not at all agreed upon.

Stars were primarily used in the 2nd century in navigation, to forecast weather, and to plan the best times for crop sowing/harvests (how good the bounty will turn out) as well as what times are beneficial for the merchents, or weddings, to tell when/where great births/passings will occur. Before that time, and still surviving in their time (around the 2nd century AD), the stars were largely used to describe the deities and as a way for the wisemen/women of the time to explain the beginning of existence/creation of man, the cosmos, to tell their tales/educate people. The exact instructions used to explain the place of stars in a chart of a natal have undergone many changes, and the earlier mythos changes (sometimes only slightly) from culture to culture.

More often the stars we use have their meanings handed down from Greek and Arabic scholars, and the constellations each were divided time and time again, each gaining certain planetary influences to their stars (usually judged by the brightness/colour of the star), but sometimes by placement in the heavens on that elevation/latitude.

But, what we have today is heavily influenced by later interpretations to the mythologies surrounding the constellations (mostly the Greek constellations because they survived the longest), but if you really want to look into star meanings, each star needs to be analyzed from the perspective of the people who first had a part in giving it a name, and attributes in their culture/religion. Some names were originally Babylonian, Egyptian, and later translated into Arabic/Greek names. Sometimes the names describe an asterism that has to do with the mythology of the whole sign or a just a piece of it.

Some stars have been observed by astrologers rather consistently throughout the ages, while others had specific time periods where they were more important. Some stars are collectively seen as benefic, while others are deemed to be always malefic today, while others have a dual nature, and bestow both good/bad fortune or fame, health or illness.

This was not always the case though.

Pole stars, and the constellations shift depending on the Earth's movement... which explains some of those differences overtime.

It's really a lot to take in~ so, I'll leave it at that for now. You will have to decide what importance you put on them for yourself though, and how you see their function.

For instance some view Algol as always being a malefic star for a placement... I do not. While others have never even heard of Erakis, which can be related to even more malign energy than I've ever found Algol itself to emit or draw out from others... Some people only look for the royal stars, I look at more or less each star or combination of stars in their constellations both past and present and across different regions/cultures. Both are fine... I just happen to love stars! lol
Some people use stars only for natal charts... I find they are far more useful the way they were primarily used... by transit. Because everyone has the stars in the chart. But, the effects of those stars during transit to transit and transit to natal experiences are more profound in my experience.

When I first got into astrology it was due to my keen interest in archaeology and archaeoastronomy and mythology. I find it easier to understand not just the stars but the signs because of this, understanding the sign is not the planet, but the sign is the constellation first and the planet just happens to come with them.

Castor and Pollux or the Corvi or Pleiades, or Formalhaut or Spiculum... you have all of them in your chart, and so will everyone else. But, using them in relation to natal contacts depends on both your chart, and how important you find them for yourself beyond that...

I recommend constellation of words to study the constellations and read about their interpretations etymologically, mythologically, and through the interpretation of famed astronomer/astrologers... (Ptolemy/Manilius)
It's a very good site to jump into star study/application. They include many asterism, and even details that relate them to other practices or cults/religions/historic events~

Castor and Pollux, I believe, from a more spiritual view~ encircling your moon may give you an deep connection to those who are either passing, or have passed already. As the Dioscuri were patrons of travelers and symbolic of death/immortality/rebirth. So, should you feel a connection on an emotional or even spiritual way, possibly intuitively picking up on those energies at times, or during sleep communicating with them (especially if you have other such aspects in your chart already), you may be naturally gifted with either relating to others on this plain who are going through such experiences (as loss) themselves, or to those crossing through another realm on the spiritual plain. ^^; IQ is the one to ask about these blessings, I think, if you are interested!~ <3

I hope you find some of this useful!~

Feel free to ignore anything you don't agree with, or ask any questions you'd like! ^^;

Not really. I had 3 sisters and we were all 4 and 5 yrs apart. I have one sister in CA and one about 3 hrs away who is 6 yrs older. We seldom see each other... the other sister died in 2003. I suppose we were the closest as we did astrology together but she moved away in 1975 and I didn't see much of her after that. Cousins... they are all strangely cold and I have a hard time getting either of the two local to even call me.

It could be because Castor and Pollox are opp my MC, opp. Venus and opp. Mercury and sq my ASC. My moon is 18 Cancer and afflicted as well.
