My roomie has chiron conjunct asc but the orb is 8 degrees, isn't that way too wide to be counted since its an asteroid?

Still counts especially if its in their first house. Chiron is a minor planet.

Is your friend very charismatic? I’ve read that people with chiron/ASC can be very charismatic.

Yeah.
He's a lovely person!
I would say the right word is endearing.

Its hard to dislike him unless you feel threatened or insecure maybe?
I'm sure he has some insecurities (we all do)
I think he's a very good looking chap, and does not have any visible flaws.
