There is no abuse, and I don't think much if any potential for abuse, in the relationship but we both carry some fairly heavy history from other relationships and our childhoods. I found myself inadvertently hurting him with words the other day. I wasn't angry and didn't say anything that on the surface would be hurtful; but I was not thinking far enough ahead to realize I was hitting a sore spot because I was mostly concerned about expressing my own needs/desires.

I've always thought the focus on Nessus as abuse is oversimplifying a complex myth (and may be missing the main point of the myth), but I do like the interpretation that "Nessus represents primitive, unrestrained energy which can destroy without thinking and thus is destroyed by the same energy it seeks to dominate." And, to badly paraphrase I think IQ, when Nessus is not abusing he is ferrying people across a river so can represent transformation.

I have to look more closely at what Chiron and Dejanira are doing in relationship to these conjunctions. And how the composite plays out.

Exact conjunctions of NESSUS are always interesting, with DEJANIRA expressing the flipside.

To that end, I must respectfully disagree, summerlite. I think that'd be a more viable delineation for DEJANIRA. The history of abuse is less seen in NESSUS. I believe we go off of logic, seeing how NESSUS and IXION are a pattern, and thus, history of abuse. But it personally abide by the principles of functionalism when it comes to astrology. For me, NESSUS is not where I look for patterns of abuse - that's DEJANIRA.

I agree that NESSUS arises from a primitive source; it's almost an overactive id: it wants, and must have, and disregards the consequences of getting.

I think, at NESSUS, we're all a little psychopathic. Ironic, given the 'primitive drive'. The truth, however, is that psychopaths are not void of emotion, or passion - merely affective empathy. NESSUS couldn't care less of DEJANIRA's circumstances - he WANTS, and that's that.

Do you find yourself intensely craving and desiring his unconditional love? Does something well within you to such an extent that it goes beyond sense or rationale?

Meanwhile, with your CUPIDO involved, does he go to great lengths to woo you - bypassing what may be seen as conventionally 'appropriate' at times? NESSUS wants what he wants, and that's your romantic affections, with CUPIDO there.

House placement, rulers and aspects will always give greater depth.

I do agree with IQ's statement regarding the evolved NESSUS.

As is the case with it being exactly conjunct my costar's DEJANIRA, I feel that very strongly. It's true that, there's this crazy thing on some level that 'must HAVE' him, but that's oddly balancing to his MARS-LILITH on my SUN-PLUTO. As I already represent the woman which he desires but cannot 'have'.

We're teaching each other now how to love without conditions, and by setting boundaries we negotiate - society be damned - without the comfort or conveniences of possessing each other - in a traditional sense. The SUN-PLUTO/MARS-LILITH is in my 2H, square the MERCURY-DEJANIRA/NESSUS-SAPPHO-NYMPHE in his 8H (MERCURY is his 7R). It all forms a T-Square with his 5H MOON-NYMPHE-EROS.

Battling sexual anorexia for our whole lives thus far, we've had to learn how to accept our own sexuality (NYMPHE, 8H; his MOON-NYMPHE-EROS is in my 8H, too) and love each other despite the possessive tendencies we both possess. Thank goodness for my natal MOON-URANUS trining the NESSUS-DEJA, and his AMOR. My AMOR makes the whole shebang a Cardinal Cross.

It's a powerful configuration that's deeply felt throughout. With him as the DEJA, I do have a 'need' a want so deeply visceral that it terrified me to the point of denial for years. But mine is an evolved NESSUS. It won't take or bully; it negotiates. It waits. It ferries.

When he was finally ready to begin to transcend these shackles that have repressed us for so long, my own NYMPHE made itself surprisingly known. Naturally, with SAPPHO, it's been very creative for me, too.
