I just discovered that my pholus in the 5th is at the apex of a YOD which inconjuncts ixion conjunct hygeia exact at 16d in scorpio in the 12th! and mercury in virgo conjunct MC (my natal mercury is rx and rules my 7th, MC and sun).

Transit Uranus is approaching the apex and Transit saturn is conjuncting ixion/hygeia on one leg and mercury conjunct MC is at the other leg.

In addition Transit Ixion and Transit pholus and holding hands right now and conjuncting my southnode in sag in the first.....

What kind of messed up karma or past life can this mean. I want honesty.

Any comments that can bring light in any way however small are WELCOME PLS.

Other transits today:
Transit Juno is conjuncting my NN exact
Transit Hygeia is conjuncting my vesta.
Transit Sun/Jupiter is conjuncting my Eros.
Transit lilith is conjuncting my vertex.
Transit eros is conjuncting my neptune
transit vesta and mars are conjuncting my pluto

I figured out the YOD in light of the following:

"Ixion may bring to surface issues and experiences reflecting this inner conflict--to do that which is considered civilized (dictated by man's laws) or that which is more natural to the wild and free (renegade). In either case the paradox may arise for the civilized patriarch, now quite at odds with the wilder natural world, to take responsibility for doing that which is natural (whether for good or bad) especially when matters of fatality are involved.

We can certainly see this theme quite prominent in the medical community: the allopathic verses the naturopathic; prolonging life through artificial means despite the lost of the quality of life, verses letting things take their natural course and using natural cures. This theme is quite fitting to Ixion's discovery in and current passage through Ophiuchus in sidereal Scorpio."

THE MYTHOLOGY OF PHOLUS

One day Hercules was on the way to one of his 12 labors, the capture of a wild boar that was wrecking havoc around Mount Erymanthus in Arcadia. This same area was home to the tribe known as the Centaurs.

On his way to the mountain, Hercules stopped in to see a friend of his named Pholus. Like Chiron, Pholus was an unusual centaur. Unlike the majority, Pholus was fair, gentle and wise. Anyway, Pholus played the good host and entertained Hercules.

For this next part of the story, I have found three different versions. In one, Hercules is thirsty, but Pholus refuses to give him any wine, saying it was not his, but the property of the whole Centaur tribe. Hercules, however, has a powerful thirst, so he takes the cask, breaks it open, and guzzles it down. A second version has Hercules talking Pholus into giving him the wine. And in the third, Pholus plays the excellent host and offers the wine to Hercules.

In one story, by the way, Pholus was given the wine as a present. He was asked to resolve an argument between Dionysus (god of wine, ecstacy) and Hephaestus (also known as Vulcan (god of the forge, metallurgical arts.) Guess which one Pholus sided with? Well, let me give you another hint.....Pholus' dad was often pictured as Silenus, who was almost always pictured being drunk; Silenus was said to be the son of Pan, as well as the tutor of Dionysus.

Anyway, from this point on the stories all agree. The smell of the wine pervaded the area, and the whole tribe of Centaurs became intoxicated by the smell, rushing to the scene, creating havoc, demanding their wine. Pholus tried to calm them down. Chiron came too, and tried. But to no avail. So Hercules began shooting at them, using poisoned arrows. The ones he didn't kill turned and ran. But Chiron was wounded (some say in the knee, others in the heel). Chiron was immortal, so he might have suffered pain for all eternity, if Zeus hadn't allowed him to trade his life for Prometheus' freedom. (That's another story.)

And Pholus tried to remove the poisoned arrow from a fellow Centaur, and was pricked by the same arrow. Since he was not immortal, this killed him. In some versions, Pholus tried to save the fallen centaur. In others, he removed the arrow out of a strange fascination that so small a thing could kill so great a beast.

There are a number of Neptunian overtones to this story. The wine, for example. Pholus' self-sacrifice, in one version. Pholus stepping outside of the safe and secure to investigate the unknown mystery of the arrow. Perhaps these relate to the fact that Pholus orbits between Saturn and Neptune....and links them up in much the same way that Chiron links Saturn and Uranus.

We haven't had very long to study Pholus, so not much of his astrological nature has been verified. But there does seem to be an element of selflessness in his actions...of involving the self in something to the point of losing the self in the process. Much more study is needed, though.

This resonates with my Yod:

"And Pholus tried to remove the poisoned arrow from a fellow Centaur, and was pricked by the same arrow. Since he was not immortal, this killed him."

Like taking a risk for a higher cause in an attempt to change certain paradigms "civil disobedience" that affect negatively many people's lives and getting hurt in the process as well as others. Idealism resulting in action to change something by doing my part which although small is a big deal and then getting in trouble bc "I am not immortal" or "above the law."

Pholus:

- the small start of a major event (like the butterfly and the huricane)

- a turning point (like the first domino stone in a range)

- a situation involving three generations at the time (grandparents, parents, children)

- curing certain addictions

- something that happens and you can't get a hold on it and it is escalating (like throwing the first stone in a revolution)

- the catalyst (something that triggers a lot of events)

This one resonates with my Yod and what it means:

"something that happens and you can't get a hold on it and it is escalating (like throwing the first stone in a revolution)"

I have several weird placements in my chart that feel heavy and very karmic too, and am looking for answers from astrologers as to what I could have done in a past life to get so many intense aspects, whether positive or negative. I'm in the midst of several very intense transits all at once right now, which signify death or violence, and I have, in fact, had two minor but painful physical accidents during the past month, and very weird intense dreams. So I understand how you feel. In times like these you probably want to hide under the bed until the transits are over.

However, in reading over your transits, my gut feeling is that it isn't a sign of bad karma, but good karma. It sounds to me like you may be called on during these transits to take a stand for truth and justice and to publicly recognize ways that people abuse their power in morally unacceptable ways that people often try to hide or cover over, or, conversely, you may be called on to stand up for someone who isn't doing anything karmically wrong, but who is nevertheless judged as wrong by certain segments of society (ie people who are homosexual) and who are wrongly judged harshly for being who they naturally are.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how people tend to think that positive life circumstances are a result of good karma, but when you study teachings for religions that believe in karma, you find that they often claim that a cushy existence is a sign of bad karma. The highest spiritual beings often face tremendous hardship in their struggle to promote compassion, peace and justice. Just look at the lives of Dr. Martin Luther King, Gandhi and Jesus. Do you think they had bad karma? All of them were reviled, harassed, constantly threatened with violence and in the end they were all assassinated, and yet we revere them as some of the greatest spiritual leaders of all time.

Conversely, most Americans want to live Kim Kardashian's life. Do you think she and those celebrities like her have attained the highest good karma possible and are most worthy of being emulated? My sense is, you don't, and neither do I. But we're so affected by the media at the subconscious level, that no matter how spiritual our conscious believes are, we also hold superficial values that have been planted in our minds subconsciously by the advertising industry. I'm working on weeding out these false values in myself right now, and questioning all of my assumptions and beliefs.

Sorry if I've gone off on a tangent here, but in reading your post, this was my gut reaction to what you wrote. I think these placements and transits are a sign of good karma, but you may need to summon up your courage in order to make good use of them, for yourself and for society at large. Good luck!

WOW well said and super insightful...I never thought of it that way; how you perceive Cushy karma versus tough karma.
