Our Lindaland Facebook Group is very active (with lots of stuff you won't find on Lindaland itself), but I have been neglecting the Asteroid Group, so I'm ready to amp it back up. If you are on Facebook, join up. It's a closed group, so it won't show up in your feed. You will see the posts there, but no one else on your list will be able to (for those who keep Astrology a secret from close friends and/or family). It's called Linda Goodman Asteroids. It'll still show up in people's groups, won't it? I'm under the impression everything does, no matter how secret or closed or whatnot the actual group, since Fb wants to blast everything that's liked or joined or listed in a profile to the world as a PUBLIC thing even if everything you did or posted there was Friends Only. The problem also isn't close friends, but Fb being all about "People I knew when I was 12, but who still somehow insist on adding me despite our last having talked aged 12, too" and "People worked with in some capacity". Someone enlighten me on who sees groups that are secret in your profile, please? Is it visible to your friends, or is that yet another thing that is bizarrely public knowledge like groups, pages, interests & the sort in your profile or on your side? What's discussed in Closed groups shouldn't show to anyone via the timeline, so even less so with Secret, but what of your membership in a group? Theoretically it shouldn't since hello, Secret, but since Failplace tends to volunteer everything else you show half an interest in to the world as well even when you'd rather they wouldn't, how can I know? In case it's not clear, no, I do not like Fb nigh promoting my possible Pages-likes or the sort. Compartmentalisation, dammit. (Meaning that actually I can't join up or at least say anything that'd tie me here to someone there, since you don't cross the streams, etc. etc.) // Tl;dr nice version: Thank you for the link and clarifying that there's the attempt at privacy for those who prefer it. I know the posts are on your feed, but no one else can see them unless they, too, are a member of the group. It's a closed group, not secret. Secret groups won't show anywhere. But FB only recently started showing people's groups. FB is starting to get clueless. They suspend you for having too many friend requests. Isn't that counterintuitive? Wish there were a viable alternative. MySpace is a ghost town. Google Plus sucks. So, I'm thinking that it would now show as a group you are in. Maybe I should convert both of them (we also have a Lindaland group) to secret groups. I know some people want to keep their interest in Astrology private. IP: Logged |
