It depends on the planet. For luminaries, up to 5° is fine, particularly if the luminary is aspecting. I'd reduce it a notch if it's separating. For personal planets, up to 3° orb is okay. For the generational planets, I'd reduce that to 2° or less. For fixed stars, super tight orb at less than 1°. Obviously, the tighter a conjunction, the better. Check for prominently placed asteroids in the natal, then keep an eye on those for positive transits and progressions. Consider the MC, its ruler, its placement by house and sign, and any major aspects it makes to your other planets. For accrual of monies, maybe check your 2R, too. The thing is to check for repeating patterns. A one-off probably has very little impact.
