(can't remember if this was posted somewhere before)

Validity of asteroids?

You have to test the validity of everything to see if it is true for you. Remember that astrology is an abstract science, not a material science, so there is no cause and effect. How to test... you must look at your own placements and see how they relate to your own life experience, and then you will begin to understand.

The planets and their placements tell much on their own. Even the mathematical points such as the moon's nodes, the angles and vertex axis are used very significantly, especially if there are planets aspected in close degree.

For clarity, an asteroid can continue a theme, emphasize a theme already in a chart or show something new that is hidden deep in the subconsciousness.

When you look at Vedic Astrology the outer planets are missing. But Western astrology depends on the outer planets for transformation and/or evolution. The asteroids will refine the chart even further. The asteroids take you to the next level.

I mostly agree with this, given a caveat.

Testing shouldn't be done using anecdotal evidence. 'It worked like X for me, so it works like X,' is a logical fallacy. If it works like X in 50 charts of my 100 in the database -- NOW we're starting to get somewhere. If it works like X in 80 of those charts, we're ready to start expanding to a larger sample size and consider random sampling, to really test it out.

But that's because I'm a scientist as well as an astrologer.

yes, you have to test thoroughly, but not just to prove your theory by finding what supports it. you have to find out why those charts not matching your theory are different instead of just disqualifying them fom the database study

I'm a big fan of outliers; controlling for the variables that might be 'creating' the inconsistencies.
