 | posted December 23, 2014 04:30 PM How do many of you here choose the astrological meanings for many of the asteroids? I find that a lot of people make assumptions based off of the name of the asteroid itself. I don't think this is a good barometer of the energy of the asteroid and that the astrological meaning should be derived from statistical observation of people who have the asteroid in a prominent placement (tightly conjunct asc, sun, moon, etc).
I wish people would be more responsible with their use of asteroids in astrology. Are there any good websites that discuss asteroid interpretations using statistical and observational measures? IP: Logged |

Well, I think the name, with a significant dictionary meaning, is written only after a good amount of research on the name of the asteroid. Naming an asteroid is a very complex procedure.
The rate at which these asteroids are discovered are quite high and it's not easy for the Astronomical Unions to frequently name an asteroid / other celestial bodies. For this, they have specialized set of branches that name an asteroid with a batch name, like imagine a child born in famine is given a tag name for identification than proper names. After giving them tag names, the Astronomical society has guidelines, which they do good research on for naming the asteroid. IP: Logged |

 | posted December 23, 2014 06:53 PM I found after a little research asteroids are not named randomly, their nature is studied for ages by the astronomers, example their shape, orbitals, positioning in space, when they go retrograde and lot other properties. Each asteroid had a certain exhibit property that displays while it makes contact with other Asteroids / Planets.
Like when there is orbital path Similar / Overlaps at times, there is major outline of specific patterns. And as the planets are major in astrology, when an asteroid shares close vicinity in charts it's impact is huge, because then the asteroid turns to life (by the planet). The bigger the size of an asteroid the greater it's impact. So, mostly the asteroid is studied for ages, by the discoverer and the Astronomical society, on the behavioural pattern before naming it. Wow. Thank you for this research thequeen. I would LOVE to be a part of the group that goes about studying and naming new asteroids... IP: Logged |

Research its a very long process but it starts in inquiry, personal observation and exploration... IP: Logged |

 | posted December 24, 2014 07:50 AM IMO, you have to take and asteroid and USE it. If I see the asteroid Sado, I put it in charts. If over and over and over again, it proves to be sadism, I count it as that.

 | posted December 18, 2017 05:16 PM To find the meaning of an asteroid, I just read things about it and see if the placement in sign and house and sometimes planets fits with what I am, and sometimes synastry... Or if I don't find any explanation of this asteroid, and if this is an asteroid of a word, I try to understand if the placement in sign and house and aspects fit with what I am, basing on this word (for example asteroid "karma")...

Actually Astrology is more a science, even a philosophy and at some point the
cultures long before us looked to the
skies and wondered about the planets.
It wasn't immediate that they "knew"
they behaved as they do. It was with
time and study, observing them and
 documenting their discoveries. I find
 asteroids aren't much different than
the planets. If a name or asteroid number
effects a chart in someway, I observe
and document. If it is proven wrong
 I simply dismiss particular ones.
However for myself. I keep a catalog
for future study, these aren't like
 apparel "one size fits all".
