A bit of a placeholder post for things about asteroid 666 Desdemona. Named no doubt also for the asteroid number, but your needing to look at poor innocent/naive Desdemona from Othello more so for a better history, I'd imagine.

Posted for my 666th post here. Because I can.

Discovered: July 23, 1908
Discoverer: August Kopff

"Desdemona was named for the wife of Othello in William Shakespeare's 1604 play Othello. She was a sweet, innocent, naive, good-hearted Venetian aristocrat the Moorish soldier of fortune Othello married against her father's wishes and brought to Cyprus, a possession of the city-state of Venice which was defending it from the Turks. There both were ruined through the machinations of Othello's villainous subordinate officer Iago, who convinced Othello that Desdemona had been unfaithful and talked him into murdering her, after which Othello killed himself."

I guess there's a possibility with Desdemona that she'd also hint at marrying against the wishes of others? Nobody's looked at that aspect of the story, but as per the quote's source, M.A. Holmes, "Astrologically, Desdemona seems to indicate to be sad or "down," to be victimized, to be or see oneself as blameless." His (interpretations and) examples for asteroids tend to be grim or downers more often than not though, so your call what you think of him on Desdemona.

Stemming from something mentioned by Holmes though, Pallas for daughter-type things, and thinking of MC as a denoter for the father if IC/4th house ties to the mother, would you attribute Desdemona conj MC and Pallas for feeling victimized by a father? Or father figures, perhaps authority figures?

(Then again, in that case there's also Nessus square Desdemona and in synastry a father figure's Nessus square the ASC-DC and opposite Nemesis, so fat lot good anything Desdemona alone does.)

Also, because you can't make this stuff up, and it apparently being THE time for Desdemona to rise...

Midnight transit in some 2+ hours from now has Desdemona at 14.41 Libra conjunct True Node at 14.14 Libra. All hail Desdemona. Now post yours, it's the right time for it.

Sun's a little wide next at 16.20ish Capricorn already, but the T-square with Pluto and Uranus around 12-13 Cap-Aries also possibly plays into that.

I had a relationship very similar to the story with someone very jealous, like ridiculously so. He smoked too much pot so it was bordering on psychosis - thinking that I'd been unfaithful during the night whilst I slept in the same bed as him or that because someone had borrowed something of mine etc At one point we lived with his brother and he actually did do odd things like come and speak to me just as my ex arrived home as though sending a false impression something was going on. It did lead to violence and the end of the relationship.

I came across a condition called 'othello syndrome' which is morbid jealousy and perfectly described him although the syndrome didn't generally involve someone actually misleading like the play.

It wasn't much of a surprise when the asteroid desdamona turned out exactly conj my psyche (and mad hatter) in h1.

--

I did see myself as blameless and that almost preempted the situation because I did not actually love him but felt because I showed love he had no right to act as he did.

Later, it made me reassess that and realise on some level I maintained an abusive detachment that fed his insecurity. No excusing it though.

I always try to create conditions I'm blameless but invariably it's the same as making myself a victim. Still working on that.
