It differs from DEJANIRA in the sense that PREY represents how and where we can be easily attacked; it's the soft underbelly. Influences which can lead to susceptibility and endangerment. With DEJA, we can be tricked or manipulated. We're victimised by unseen influences and circumstances. PREY is more forward about it. The killer that attacks you blatantly with a knife versus the one who cajoles and manipulates you into doing self-harm, for example.

PREY is where we are vulnerable to attack.

Could that be bullying? Well, sure. There are so many types of attack. Bullying might be a 3H-influenced PREY, and, if verbal, an Air sign.

This is another asteroid I have been trying to figure out.
I have PREY conj. ASC exact.

I was preyed upon in childhood, however, there was a lot of smoke & mirror, trickery, manipulation, and very possibly, drugging.
So, more of a DEJANIRA vibe really.

Due to these experiences, I am very good at keeping myself safe, so have rarely been preyed upon in adulthood.

I think the fact it also conjuncts PLUTO is relevant. What I do seem to attract are strong personalities who desire to dominate me. Perhaps with PREY on AC I appear to be easy to vicitimise initially. Although as soon as neighbour PLUTO realises what's going on it's GAME OVER.
(And MARS is only a few degrees down the street, if PLUTO wants a tea-break)

ADDITIONAL: Interestingly, in high school, I actively fought against bullies for those too frightened/traumatised to protect themselves. I still cannot stand back and watch anyone dominate anyone else.

i have my prey in the 10 house - so the house of social status. it's conjunct my aura too and also conjuncts my MC and trines my AC.

and yes i was bullied.

in fact one instance that sticks out in my mind was in primary school when all the girls in my class and some from the year below so altogether 10 (8 in my year) we were all talking at break about dinner and i mentioned what i had which was culturally different to them. one started slagging me off for it. the were young and racist. then next thing i know i was backed against the wall by all 10 girls who then almost ritualistically just ripped into my culture, my looks, my attitude, my personality, likes/dislikes, my mannerisms, accent. just ******* everything they could think of and i could run away because they surrounded me so just cried through the whole thing because that's all i could do. i remember looking at the parents on duty for supervision who could hear the whole thing because the girls were yelling all this abuse at me and they never stopped it. the girls kept going until the bell rang.

my saturn is in the pisces and in the 11th house so i have a fear of what people think of me so it was literally my worst nightmare brought to life. and to this day i still remember how it felt and everything that was said to me. all 25 minutes of that hell.

so i think maybe it's this combination of prey in the 10th + conjunct aura and my saturn in the 11th house is why i act the way i do with people. =

lots of acquaintances that love my gemini ascendant (i really
take advantage of this ascendant energy in my social life)

good amount of friends and family that mainly see my gemini ascendant but have had glimpses of my heavy saturn/earth energy

(i try to keep that under wraps because it's usually that that people go for when they talk behind my back - the ammunition they use basically etc)

other than that = only 2 people (mum + partner) has seen in me every aspect of my chart. and i'm not even comfortable with that number.

so lots and lots of walls for protection. hell i love crowds, big cities and huge parties in combination with my ascendant for the anonymity that i can protect my real self with - like hiding in plain sight.

Sad, but true, I think. Got to watch this one. Personal experience has indicated it could possibly be used with a wider orb. I was stunned to find that its influence kicked in as distantly as 4º00. (It was tPREY coming in to conjunct nPREY, so a 'PREY Return'.)

However ... my PREY is already connected to my CHIRON by a wide conjunction (3º again), which is closely conjunct (0º) his TISIPHONE and HADES (1º). So my PREY is a bit 'along for the ride', part of that heavily impacted stellium.

Interestingly, it's also tightly parallel (0º05) his SUN, and his MADHATTER (0º30) -- which is just the icing on the cake, given our multidimensional / karmic history.

Perhaps the tPREY was enough to really activate the synastric PREY links. Even at that distance -- I was surprised! Took a few weeks for it to really clear out to the point that the fear subsided. Very, very strange. Almost surreal.

I agree with you Voix, that Prey is really Dejanira-like asteroid. So, when you have Pluto on ASC combined with that asteroid, it is not about you appearing to be powerful but about attracting strong personalities and predators? (You know, Pluto can be really predatory sometimes...) You defending victims of bullying even though you weren't able to defend yourself and your loved ones really reminds me of Chiron-wounded healer. Where is Chiron placed in your chart?

Feelings you were experiencing around that man I've experienced with certain guy. Too bad I don't even know his date of birth... Whenever I've looked into his face, or whenever he looked at me, I had an instant urge to RUN and hide somewhere. And at the same time, something was pulling me to him. When we were introduced to each other, he purposely squeezed my hand too much and gave me cunning, "sinister" smile with that weird twinkle in his eyes.

Confusedaseff, it must be really difficult to have placements you've mentioned. So you're saying that nobody helped you when those girls were yelling at you... I've experienced someting similiar... I can clearly remember that when I was at kindergarten, one girl was regularly slapping my face and once she did this in front of my father. And he haven't done anything to defend me. But progressed Aura wasn't on my Prey back then so maybe it was my Pluto-Mars opposition working against me...

I think with Pluto and Prey on ASC it can go either way depending on the other person. Like I said, I was preyed upon as a child, however, even though I attract strong personalities as an adult, I think I have grown into my Pluto, as I have not been victimised in any way I could not deal with as an adult. It's in a stellium with Saturn and Mars, so that probably helps.

In all honesty, what caused such trouble is the fact that I do trust him -- completely. He's actually nurtured me through some very painful experiences. We've helped each other heal some deep wounds.

Then a couple of years later I was also bullied online at two internet communities I was part of. Constant verbal abuse and pretty much everything I did seemed to p*ss them off - and if things were peaceful, they turned out to have been thrashing me behind my back in group chats, making fun of my writing, my characters, me and my mannerisms, etc. I wasn't the only victim there, though, and that actually was what helped me through. I bonded with the other rejects and they turned out to be very good friends to me for as long as we were in that comm.

So sorry for everyone else here ;__;

I have Prey (15 Virgo) conjunct my Mercury exact, and Valentine. In Virgo, even, so more prone to verbal abuse and constantly picking on my flaws. The conjunction to Mercury is just so telling it hurts. Mercury is also in my 12th house, so I often had to deal with it alone. I can count the few times people stood up for me on two hands - all those years of being bullied together.

and square asteroid Stockholm, for Stockholm Syndrome perhaps? I went through years of defending my bullies, and genuinely thought I was this horrible b*tch who was making their lives miserable just by showing my ugly face to them. And that the only way I could sort of make life easier for them was to just stay out of their way or at least keep my mouth shut not to bother them any more.
