I would say that there was a hard rite of passage from teen to adult and this trauma, so to speak, stayed with the person into later life and was a real issue.------------------

Upon hearing Ami's interpretation I thought of yet another way it may have manifested. Perhaps you were overly protected growing up which made your transition into adulthood harder and more challenging or it delayed it. The transition for me has been definitely a challenge.Im still in the middle i guess.
