Why these two in aspect are considered part of the soulmate profile? Well, at least IQ has them in his list..
I can't find much about this pair. Seems like both of them had numerous lovers..I cant even find a proper story relating these two together in the mythology.

We do have them in conjunction in our synastry, so I wonder..

All i know is they are the oldest soulmate couple, so many feel they may represent the original twinflame couple. The story of them dates back to ancient sumeria. Far older than Isis and Osiris and others.

Innanen/Astarte/Ishtar/Venus deity and Adonis are a twinflame couple.

There mythology is somewhat similar to standard soulmate couples Isis/Osiris, Pluto/Persephone and Eros/Psyche.

There are various names for Innanen i.e. Venus deity in this mythology because she's comes from Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Mesopotamian etc mythology. In all of the myths she is the Venus goddess as well as one of sexuality, fertility and warfare.

Innanen/Inanna the queen of Heaven and Earth represents both the morning star and evening star to show her descent and ascension from the Underworld where she has to pass through the seven gates of hell. But this also represents her nature as both a fertility goddess and a warfare goddess.

Adonis isn't referred to directly as Adonis in most of the mythos he's called Tammuz or Dumuzid. He was a shepard who married Innanen and later becomes King in her absence.

Inanna ventures into the underworld but the reason isn't clear some myths say she ventures there to due to funeral rites her twin sister Ereshkigal the goddess of the underworld, husband dies. Other myths state Inanna and Ereshkigal were both in love with Dumuzid/Tammuz and he chose to live with Inanna on Earth. Ereshkigal has him killed so he has to stay with her in the underworld. So Inanna venture into the Underworld to save him.

At each gate of hell she must strip herself of a piece of garment, but each garment represented a piece of power she possessed. By the time she reaches her sister she's completely naked. She is killed and her body hung on a hook because of her death, the land of the living suffered from infertility and constant winter. She's left dead for three days. It wasn't until the other gods convinced Ereshkigal to restore Innanna, she only agrees if Dumuzi was allowed to stay with her for six months out of the year.

In other versions of the myth it was through the assistance of her handmaidens/servants she is restored until she reaches the exit. She is unable to leave the underworld until someone else takes her place because of the laws of the underworld.. In the myth she is unable to sacrifice anyone else but husband Tammuz/Dumuzid. He who was oblivious to her absence, too busy enjoying the power that came with his marriage to Innanen and didn't even mourn her death. So she chooses him and he's taken to the underworld. Then his sister out of lover offers herself in his place, Inanna uses her powers and he's only allowed to leave the underworld for 6 months out of the year.

In a way it's necessary for both Inanna/Innanen and Adonis/Tammuz/Dumuzi to both descent into the underworld. Inanna underwent a transformation where she ventured into a world where she had no authority in, was judged, killed and resurrected becoming a new person and Adonis/Tammuz/Dumuzi had to undergo the same fate.

Thank you, alegna and Ail

Ail, that explains why I couldnt find a direct story between these two, they were paired under different names. I was perplexed why a Sumerian goddess was paired with a Greek god...

I have them conjunct in our synastry. And we also have his Pluto conjunct my Persephone.

In my natal I have:

ADONIS in Scorpio @2d54
DNA in Scorpio @2d53
SATURN in Scorpio @2d39
INNANEN in Cancer @2d48

My Ex HAS:

DNA in Pisces @2d53
Innanen in Scorpio @4d05

DAVISON Composite:

ADONIS in Cancer @24d53
INNANEN in Pisces @24d18
KARMA in Pisces @22d33

So my Adonis-DNA-Saturn conjuncts his Innanen and forms a grand trine with my Innanen and his DNA. Further my natal Adonis and Innanen trine exact and my DNA and his DNA trine exact @2d53.

OH WOW

So my husband's Ishtar conjuncts his Nessus and this squares his Adonis conjunct Dejanira; my asteroid Zeus forms a tsquare with all this.

My draco Dejanira squares his Tropic Ishtar-Nessus and opposes his tropic Adonis-Dejanira.

I dont know how to interpret it, too close to it right now but I suppose his Nessus Dejanira issues stem from Mesopotamia and Sumerian times.

I have Sumerian sextile Moon-Ur and both inconjunct my vertex-Valentine. The day my ex and I broke up transit Nessus-Dejanira was conjuncting my Samurai activating that YOD.

Yeah but it really just shows how all myths irregardless of their cultural origin are connected.

The alternative version of the Inanna myth is very similar to the story of Aphrodite and Persephone fighting over Adonis in the Greek myth.

Ahhhh. This 'old' thing.

I was fascinated how these were among the very first myths we discussed together, as our fiction shares elements of them. Oftentimes substituting the sibling relationship for the actual Shadow self of Inanna, or even Tammuz. Unsurprising, they're all active in our synastry in some way, and come closest in our composite.

I have INNANEN widely conjunct my SUN, but closely conjunct certain asteroids which have been influential to my understanding of my own identity: RILEYCENNIS (26399) -- which I couldn't help but notice is PROSPERINA (26) + PERSEPHONE (399) -- THIERRY (164006) and VIRGINIA (50). I forget, but I think JODIEFOSTER's around there, too, completing the 'portrait' in that regard. The first two directly relating to Riley and Thierry, characters from my work.

I've also got ADONIS (2101) parallel ASTARTE (672) -- which is also conjunct my SUN (2º) and PLUTO-BML (0º). So, I wasn't going to escape that one.

Then there's his INNANEN conjunct his PSYCHE (16) (2º) and my MADHATTER (6735) (0º) with ATROPOS (273) (3º) and his SIVA (1170) conjunct PLUTO (0º). Not sure we needed that, but there it is. Meanwhile, his ISHTAR (7088) is conjunct DESTINN (6583) (0º) with my JUNO (3º).

What I find most intriguing is how we bear a strange configuration that acts a bit like a signature:

We each have a natal clustering of INNANEN, ADONIS, and ISHTAR or ASTARTE. Mine's Libra, his is Virgo. Inevitably, forming semisextiles between our INNANEN and ADONIS positions, and bringing them almost together in Libra, 0º and 13º degrees respectively. Making his ADONIS conjunct the composite INNANEN, and my INNANEN conjunct the composite ADONIS. How interesting!

At any rate, I found it rather fascinating, considering how much the themes present in the myths have appeared in our own work and, as a result, 'karmic past'.

I feel compelled to point out that the asteroid Innanen was named for a Finish-Canadian astronomer named Kimmo Innanen. So, in my mind, it holds less significance than the asteroids actually named after the god/goddess.

Since Astarte is a Helenized name for Ishtar, she may, theoretically, be the best one to pair with Adonis.

OTOH, Innanen works pretty well for me: He is part of my 1st House Chiron/Ceres/Kaali/Spirit/Yes stellium in Sagittarius, opposite Psyche.

My partner and I have an Adonis/Innanen double whammy in synastry, and an exact Adonis/Innanen square in the Davison.

In the Composite, Innanen is exactly conjunct Moon. And Astarte (widely conjunct Sun at 3) squares Adonis at 2.
