"Well, the square of Varuna is a very interesting aspect. There is an impression, that in the squares the effect of this planet is the most appreciable - and not always negative. To all appearances, the squares of Varuna in the natal astrology mean a challenge, which cannot be bypassed by the native. It is this way concerning the oppositions too. Hard aspects of Varuna expose a problem in the sphere of the aspected planet, emphasize the necessity of development in its sphere, clearly accentuate this planet, giving the urge to become famous, bring out actively advanced qualities of this planet."Do you have any Varuna squares in your natal? My Varuna conjuncts my Northnode which squares my Moon opposite Mercury. IP: Logged |

Hi Hypatia,I have Varuna conjunct my MC - which seems to fit the wanting fame/recognition interpretation of Varuna. Yes, I would say I want to make my mark in my area of work - to do something to benefit the world. Now this puts Varuna in opposition to my IC and square my Asc/Dsc by 3 degrees. Not sure how that should play out. No other planets involved though, only asteroids. IP: Logged |

Well conjunctions is a hard aspect: Hard aspects of Varuna expose a problem in the sphere of the aspected planet, emphasize the necessity of development in its sphere, clearly accentuate this planet, giving the urge to become famous, bring out actively advanced qualities of this planet. So what is your sun sign and where does it fall, what is it doing in your chart? IP: Logged |

I'm a Gemini. It's in the 4th house. I would like to be remembered for some good contribution to society. Not the BigBrother show kind of fame I guess.IP: Logged |

Interesting! Perhaps the type of fame that Varuna is connected with is that of do-gooders. IP: Logged |

Well I think that means you need to perfect your Gemini qualities to serve 4th house matters.

I'm not a materialist at all. The descriptions of Varuna I read sound highly spiritual suggesting a connexion with heaven and spiritual dimensions. Where is the source of your statement?IP: Logged |

everybody has to pay taxes or rent. We all have to look after our bodies. That is what varuna is all about. The "natural" world, nature.IP: Logged |

I don't think Varuna is about paying rent or taxes. I am searching more info about it and found this: "Varuna - It's Nature's Way Varuna is the all-knowing creator god in the mythology of India: "He knows the pathway of the wind" (Rig Veda, the oldest of the Vedas and the oldest book in Sanskrit). Varuna is the merciful, supportive, and heavenly king of both the gods and humans who controls the physical order of the universe. He expresses physical power in battle and pro-creative vigor as he upholds cosmic law (not man's law) and a path of order. Varuna is considered to be the protector of people, keeping them from evil. From a mythological viewpoint, Varuna has traits similar to Quaoar, who supports our return to natural law and the sacredness of life; and also of our more familiar Jupiter, who is also of higher (not man's) law. Varuna perhaps has more to do with nature's way taking its course, where as Quaroar may have more to do with our relationship with natural law." Taxes and paying rent has to do with Men's LAWS and Varuna has to do with COSMIC LAWS. Cosmic Law is the foundation of my spirituality, that is how I view God so it makes sense that Varuna is conjuncting my Northnode. I grew up with religion created by men and as I evolved my spirituality went in another direction more in tune with Varuna. IP: Logged |

Maybe the difficulty with Varuna is that it's such a spiritual figure that it could make it complicated for someone to deal with the world in its most primitive/harsh reactions. But maybe that's just my Pisces ASC lol IP: Logged |

That sounds so Gemini, geminis are very humanitarian, they will take that job that pays less and stick to it bc they want to feel they are giving back...they like nice things and yes comfort but not very materialistic and giving back is important to them. IP: Logged |

so, i'm guessing we have the same birthday, 6/13/89. you were probably maybe even born when i should have been on 6/12/89 but I was a stubborn one then too. Varuna squares my ascendent and is a loose conjunction to the sun by three degrees, the sun is conjunct jupiter by three degrees too. Vulcan conjuncts my sun by one degree. All four of these are third house in gemini. I have twice as much gemini fun in my chart, also ruling fourth. My mercury is at 0 degrees of gemini though it didn't make it into the third house which started at five degrees of gemini. anyone have insight? i just discovered this part of my chart and feel it holds a major key to my life. my sun is at 22 degrees of gemini, so it comes in a direct square ascendent which is 22 degrees of pisces. i also think a major aspect is chiron conjunct venus in the fourth both opposing saturn in the tenth.
