According to myth, this asteroid basically means "forbidden love". The story goes that Byblis was in love with her older brother(Incest, lol) She knew her feelings were wrong and tried to hold it in.

But then they grew stronger, she sent her brother a love letter and he's like "Nah, no thanks."

I found this asteroid by surfing the web for "Astrology asteroids" and this one came up on another website. I decided to put in my astro.

Weirdest thing is, Byblis is exactly conjunct my Vertex(Which is sextile Venus).

Now, I like my family as much as the next guy but I've never had any incestous feelings towards them.

So what's other's thoughts/opinions or placements with the asteroid?

Maybe it's related to everything that feels forbidden or emotions that you feel are not appropriate. Inappropriate lifestyle, emotions, thoughts, situations that pull on you or cause stress to you based on house and sign. Where you can be pulled into or attract forbidden things, relationships, situations. Where you could not leave well enough alone. Instant attractions, strong need to "act" something out but where you feel people will ostracize you or get a bad impression about you. Forbidden can also mean darkness or suppression. Where you just want to be free to pursue what you feel is forbidden and having stress about it.

I was 'told' the asteroid meant on paper or what it written.
Not sure how that evolved. Searching!

So much we would never know about "like secret" if it was never written down.

From wiki
The English word "papyrus" derives, via Latin, from Greek πάπυρος (papuros),[13] a loanword of unknown (perhaps Pre-Greek) origin.[14] Greek has a second word for it, βύβλος (bublos,[15] said to derive from the name of the Phoenician city of Byblos). The Greek writer Theophrastus, who flourished during the 4th century BC, uses papuros when referring to the plant used as a foodstuff and bublos for the same plant when used for nonfood products, such as cordage, basketry, or writing surfaces. The more specific term βίβλος biblos, which finds its way into English in such words as 'bibliography', 'bibliophile', and 'bible', refers to the inner bark of the papyrus plant. Papyrus is also the etymon of 'paper', a similar substance.
I have Byblis 1 degree behind MC,179 from Jupiter, conjunct Dora and Sphinx.
Dora, although just a name of some meaning is a small town in Southern Missouri where some of my ancestors settled. It was a place I often heard referred to as a child listening to my father and his mother and others when talking about family roots. My grandmother had kept written family records dating back hundreds of year that any genealogist would respect.
Dora was the first place I ever went to a funeral as a child, also conjunct Rhadamanthus and opposite Nephyths
So the meaning of the asteroids(MC) and Jupiter at my 4th is thus shown.
Some one had to record the story >that Byblis was in love with her older brother, along with every other true or untrue bit of info we have.
Byblis is about the written record, not just that one written story but the record we keep and perhaps what we feel is worth recording.
just my half cent

LOL Byblis conjuncts my Amor and Buda exact. All on 2 Sagittarius.

I love books! And I mean not just the content, but the package, how they feel if you touch the pages, and how they smell for instance. And then of course the content.
Truth be told they have never been just records to me, but sort of vehicles into another dimensions, portals.

However Byblis is not the same as byblos of course.

As for Byblis, the nymph`s story, hmm, not in love with my brother either.

I think Byblis is a story about forbidden love with loving your brother being its most extreme form of manifestation but naturally there are biological mechanisms build in in all of us that make it very unlikely for us to become attracted to our brothers hence why its a rare occurrence.

That been said for most of us Byblis will not manifest in its most extreme form, I think Myths and stories in order to get a message or point across give extreme examples that are not meant to be taken literally necessarily specially when considering we all have Byblis in our chart somewhere so its expression will be unique for each of us depending on placement, what is aspecting, our upbringing etc...

It can be as simple as Taboo love like being in love with someone married..

Your Buda-Amor stellium just keeps getting more and more interesting ...

You do have feelings for an actor who is married with a child, you don't act on it and love him from a distance true to your Buda-Amor-Byblis stellium, you call him Mr. P right? are Mr. P and Mr. Sag the same guy?

I have Byblis in CANCER trine exact my Saturn-DNA and never felt attracted to a family member except my 3rd cousin (Son of my mom's cousin) who I met for the first time during my teens and only saw him a few times in my life so I don't feel that counts as family quite frankly.

LOL WAIT, my mom is adopted so her cousin is not really her cousin so the example above REALLY doesn't count. Technically he is not my 3rd cousin. hahaha

My ex and I have: my Saturn-DNA-Adonis conjunct his Innanen forming a grand trine with his DNA and my Byblis; this is an exact grand trine except for his Innanen which conjuncts my Adonis by 1d11.

His DNA in Pisces @2d54

My Adonis in Scorpio @2d54
My DNA in Scorpio @2d53
My Saturn in Scorpio @2d39
His Innanen in Scorpio @4d06

My Innanen in Cancer @2d48
My Byblis in Cancer @2d29

He has Astarte conjunct Adonis semisextile Byblis. His astarte-adonis conjunct my TNP-CUPIDO and all semisextiles his Byblis.

In midpoint composite we have Byblis conjunct Venus opposite Moon.

DAVISON Composite KITE:

ADONIS in Cancer @24d53
INNANEN in Pisces @24d18
DC in Scorpio @22d53
AC in Taurus in @22d53

I do feel our love was forbidden in an Egyptian or SUMERIAN past life and my mom never approved of him in this life which gave that 'forbidden love' theme continuation of it which she probably played a key role in a past life as well. Not to mention that we continued to love each other even after we got involved with someone else making each other feel like we are each other's forbidden fruit continuing that familiar past life theme in this one.

------------------------------
Mr.Aqua I met while I was involved in a committed relationship and we never got to be truly together formerly like we hoped. We did have a brief affair and stayed in touch as friends for several years after from a distance.

In Davison we have:

Saturn conjunct Valentine inconjuncting Venus sextile Mars exact, forming a Yod.

**Byblis trines our Yod Venus, sextiles our Yod Mars and squares our Yod Saturn!!!!!!!!! WOW. Byblis also opposes our Anteros. In addition our Davison Byblis conjuncts exact my natal Venus stellium. Our love was definitely forbidden, it specially felt that way to him.

In synastry his Byblis opposes exact my Eros.

Based on my experience Byblis has more to do with Forbidden love or Love that could not be for external factors like disapproval from society or parents or one already being involved in a relationship etc than it has to do with unrequited love. Every example I gave the love was equally requited in intensity at some point and for a long time.

They were twins according to this:

"Byblis # 199
Byblis acknowledged her love for Caunus (her twin brother), and despite her initial efforts to convince herself that her feelings were natural, she realized the inappropriateness of them. Unable to keep her love for Caunus a secret from him any longer, she sent him a long love letter through a servant giving examples of other incestuous relationships between the gods. Disgusted, he ran away. Believing that she could yet make him love her, she was determined to try to woo him once more. When she found out that he had fled, she tore her clothes in sorrow and was driven into madness. She followed him through much of Greece and Asia Minor until she finally died, worn out by her grief and the long journey. As she had been constantly crying, she was changed into a spring."

In one version he is in love with her and flees and she comes after him looking for him but can't find him (this version fits with my stories the most):

"ENCYCLOPEDIA

BYBLIS (Bublis), a daughter of Miletus and Eidothea (others call her mother Tragasia or Areia), and sister of Caunus. The story about her is related in different ways. One tradition is, that Caunus loved his sister with more than brotherly affection, and as he could not get over this feeling, he quitted his father's home and Miletus, and settled in Lycia. Byblis, deeply grieved at the flight of her brother, went out to seek him, and having wandered about for a long time, hung herself by means of her girdle. Out of her tears arose the well Byblis. (Parthen. Erot. 11; Conon, Narrat. 2.) According to another tradition, Byblis herself was seized with a hopeless passion for her brother, and as in her despair she was on the point of leaping from a rock into the sea, she was kept back by nymphs, who sent her into a profound sleep. In this sleep she was made an immortal Hamadryas; and the little stream which came down that rock was called by the neighboring people the tears of Byblis. (Antonin. Lib. 30.) A third tradition, which likewise represented Byblis in love with her brother, made her reveal to him her passion, whereupon Caunus fled to the country of the Leleges, and Byblis hung herself. (Parthen. l. c.) Ovid (Met. ix. 446-665) in his description combines several features of the different legends; Byblis is in love with Caunus, and as her love grows from day to day, he escapes; but she follows him through Caria, Lycia, &c., until at last she sinks down worn out; and as she is crying perpetually, she is changed into a well. The town of Byblus in Phoenicia is said to have derived its name from her. (Steph. Byz. s. v.)

Source: Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology."

"There are various forms of the story about Kaunos (Caunus) and Byblis, the children of Miletos. Nikainetos [Alexandrian poet C3rd B.C.] says that Kaunos fell in love with his sister, and, being unable to rid himself of his passion, left his home and traveled far from his native land: he there founded a city to be inhabited by the scattered Ionian people."

Its official they were twins:

"Antoninus Liberalis, Metamorphoses 30 (trans. Celoria) (Greek mythographer C2nd A.D.) :
"Miletos [son of Apollon and Akakallis] built the city of Miletos and married Eidothee, daughter of Eurytos king of Karia (Caria). She became the mother of twins, Kaunos (Caunus) and Byblis after whom are named to this day the Karian cities of Kaunos and of Byblis.
Byblis attracted many local suitors, because of her fame, some from nearby cities as well. She did not pay them much attention since an unspeakable desire for Kaunos was driving her mad. Because she did all she could to hide this passion, she kept it from her parents. But daily she was being gripped by an even more unmanageable Daimon and one night she decided to throw herself from a rock.
She went to a nearby mountain and set about throwing herself off. But Nymphai, pitying her, held her back. Casting her into a deep sleep they changed her from a mortal to a deity, into a Nymphe called a Hamadryas [or Hydrias] named Byblis. They made her their companion and sharer of their way of life. The stream which flows from that rock is called to this day by local people the Tears of Byblis."

No problem. I was just tempted to post due to the nearly exact conjunction with my Vertex point.

As for how it's played out for me? Well, I've spoke a little bit on here about my very weird, platonic and yet nonexistent love life.

Despite that, I can be incredibly kinky. I actually rather like the taboo(legal taboo mind you, no freaky stuff. BDSM(Sado-conjunct Moon) and I want to be the sub lol.

But I like reading erotic novels, the more forbidden the better. I want to "tow the line" if you will, between ecstasy and the forbidden. I want to dance on that gray area for as long as possible. How much can I relish in that which no one else wants to relish in?

(8th House is ruled by Aquarius.)

An affair "sounds hot" but I'm all too sober about the consequences. So frankly, I can/can't see it at the same time. If a woman convinced me she wouldn't let us get caught then well lol.

Interesting....

The vertex is a super sensitive point so yes I feel asteroids that conjunct it are strongly felt in your chart as in it really needs an outlet and wants to express itself. Is your vertex-Byblis in your 8th house or where? What sign is it in?

Depends on which system I use hehe.

If it's Western, it's Saggitarius 5th house(Grandprism is also conjunct my Vertex too, interestingly lol.)

(Oh and in Western, I'm an 8th house Pisces Sun/Leo ASC)

If it's Sidereal, it's Scorpio 5th house.
(Aquarius Sun/Cancer ASC).
