Driving a cab in Austin back in the late 80s
wee hours sent to pickup on a NOT SO GOOD part of town, man gets in with gun and paper sack, points gun at me briefly says give me your bank and gives me an address.
What he did not know was I had taken that very route to get to him and there were like 6 cops cars at some incident there already. It was a hot spot for violence when bars closed.
On the stretch of the road there are two hills so when you go down the one before this spot you cannot see whats happening at the top of the hill.
I sped down the hill and up the hill and then slammed on my brakes drawing the attention of all the cops. He saw all those flashing lights and cops,freaked and jumped out of my cab without looking. He got hit by someone leaving their parking space, both legs broke and was arrested within minutes. The cops were looking for him already, had just robbed a store. I had just put all my cash except for making change in an envelope in the trunk. I didn't care about the cash he got from me just my life was important.
I thought,, wow, instant karma.
