ERATO #62
.. The feminine counterpart of Eros.

"Erato was named after the Muse of lyric poetry.
Astrologically, Erato seems to indicate lyric as opposed to epic poetry, singing the praises of something or somebody, to talk about love, to be concerned with something or somebody."

"Astrologically, Erato seems to indicate lyric as opposed to epic poetry, singing the praises of something or somebody, to talk about love, to be concerned with something or somebody."

"Named after the Greek muse of poetry, concerned with love as opposed to consummation."

"Erato, is one of the Nine Muse Asteroids. I read somewhere recently that it is the "feminine of Eros." whatever that means, and of course, the muse of love poetry. Erato is that which inspires the expression of love and passion in words, both written and spoken, poetry and prose."

"Erato is the Muse of lyric poetry. Anyone named after the muse can often be mistaken for an angel because of their beautiful appearance and loving personality. In the Orphic hymn to the Muses, it is Erato who charms the sight. Since the Renaissance she is often shown with a wreath of myrtle and roses, holding a lyre, or a small kithara, a musical instrument that Apollo or she herself invented[citation needed]. In Simon Vouet's representations, two turtle-doves are eating seeds at her feet. Other representations may show her holding a golden arrow, reminding one of the "eros", the feeling that she inspires in everybody, and at times she is accompanied by the god Eros, holding a torch."

I have Erato exactly conjunct my Sun/Venus in Scorpio! (These are also closely conjunct with PoF, Pluto, Mercury and Lilith). I adoooore this asteroid, and all her meanings.

I've been fascinated with the muses for a long time as well, and I can aptly agree that Erato does feel like a feminine counterpart to Eros! Unlike Psyche who balances him out, Erato seems to be ... almost a feminine expression of the Divine Masculine. The urge to EXPRESS love! Words of love, poetry, LYRICS is a huge one.

My Sun/Venus/Erato is exactly inconjunct to my Mars rx as well, and I have struggled for a long time to actually express the mountain range of love-related emotions in my life. I have SO much I want to say, but getting it out can be very difficult. Often for reasons of extreme embarrassment, but also not being able to find the words when the time actually comes to it.

However, I definitely have many notebooks full of love and lost poetry- all very dramatic. Much of it I would love to turn into music one day!

I also have a leaning to embodying 'love' themes in my daily life and style of dress. I love red/pink/hearts/love theme motifs!
