What's the limit on orb values when aspecting the ascendent? Some believe orb values don't matter as long as the person feels the asteroid expressing itself in daily life, then even if it's a 10 orb, it's still valid. Others think that ~3 orb is the limit. IP: Logged |

I've been wondering this for the secondary sunstar Sirius, i have it 3 degree's from the ascendant in the 12th house, would love to know if it was on my rising But i feel as if its in the 12th house. :cAs for primary bodies, i think an orb around 7-8 degree's is the max, maybe 10 for the Sun or Moon .. I count up to 4 orb for asteroids, because the looser orbs tend to manifest in just a certain time in your life, like sporadic or occasional, depending on the circumstances. But 5 orb up, I think a lone "designated" person will be assigned to make that manifest. I have asteroid Munch squaring Eris at 5 orb, and I vaguely remember my bro and I having arguments because we were fighting over food when we were younger. I remember him hogging the soda so I complained, etc.. So I think you will still feel the effects of those looser asteroids, but it's only once in a blue moon and with a certain person only, like just 1 in your whole lifetime.IP: Logged |

I think all of the published orbs for aspects are too wide, personally. But I would count the ascendant the same as a planet as far as orbs are concerned, for aspects. If you really want to understand yourself run a chart on Astro.com, go to "Additional Aspects" check "to all aspects" and then where it says "% Reduce/increase orbs" fill in 20 percent and you will see your closest aspects, 0-2 degrees, probably felt the strongest and if you understand these you will understand yourself pretty well. Especially for asteroids you don't want to go much higher than that., even on the ascendant. It distracts you from more significant aspects. Narrow your focus and forget about 10 degree orbs or very wide orbs unless it is part of a stellium or major configuration or deserves special recognition for some reason. Every chart is different. There are some people that don't have any close aspects in their chart at all, so you have to inch your way up, I'm sure there is an algorithm on Astro.com that calculates different orbs for different aspects, and each chart is individual, but if you are learning, start our with closest aspects and widen your focus later on. Again, especially for asteroids, every one is in every chart, multiple thousands, but are they important to you? Probably not. Narrow your focus. IP: Logged |

Oops, meant for this to be a discussion topic, not a self-diagnosis! Hence, I changed the wording of the question a bit IP: Logged |
