I know that the asteroid list is updated rather frequently but I wanted to know how to find out how to figure out which of the thousands of asteroids were added recently. How do I figure that out? For example, the list was updated today (February 3rd, 2018) meaning new asteroids were added to the list today. How do I find the names of these asteroids added today?

If I was whoever is in charge of naming asteroids, I would change all the names of asteroids just to troll asteroid astrologers.

Anonymidarkness haha, and, you're just such a meany!!

Actually? ... I've thought about how some of the asteroids are just meant to be taken as only 'jokes' and not for-real.
(How much do you think they DO laugh at us?? ~oy)

I like to find the bio-blurb on the person for whom the asteroid is named. They've GOT to be Good-Sports with great sense of humor to allow their names to be used in unflattering ways.

If there is an unfavorable meaning, that usually makes me scrounge around for other ways to apply it.

..

SunAscendant. Good question.
If you explore that website you left link to, you can find a Subscription to a newsletter. Looks like they send the most-recent news on active objects.

A lot of asteroid numbers don't have names yet-- I'm guessing that the observers still can't get a good confirmation on orbits and relationship to others in the group.

Astrodienst listing of asteroids...
if you scroll all the way down the page, they have 'dates' headlining when they've added those rocks.

I notice that if you try to checkmark the newer ones, the mark doesn't show up. You can highlight-copy-paste the number into the selection-request box, yourself.

There was a newsletter I used to subscribe too, but it seems they got a bit spammy, so, I unsubscribed.

Serennu.com seems to add an occasional new asteroid to their list.
.. They began to charge fees to use, more than several years ago.
I had to stop using that site.
I had tracked a bunch of asteroids, and was getting the 'feel' for 'how' they enmasse would move, noting their involvement in 'world events charts' for example, (or natal charts).
Because it 'costs', I haven't really kept up with studying the grander clustered movements (many many asteroids).
I don't know what's new with them and what they have available on their site. It seemed pretty rich in what they offered.
If you have a few dollars(~whatever) to spend each month, you might pay to find out what kind of things they have now.

I cut my asteroid astrological baby-teeth using that site. I miss it.

Another website you might try to DELVE into, is Amable's website on TransNeptunianObjects asteroids. (TNO).

He seems to update from time to time.
I think he's cutting-edge!
Interprets the asteroids in a 'psychological' way. Includes movie-clips to illustrate his meanings. JUICY-stuff. I like his work. I had only begun to really scratch the surface there-- but I'd love to get into the tiny-nitty-gritty of ALL he has.

It's interesting to compare MarkAndrewHolmes website's "Unnamed asteroids" to Amable's work.

MAH seems to have slowed down adding to his work, but from time to time, there's an expansion of his lists.
Amable slowed about a year ago too... And again, you have to KEEP checking.

(I think it's Wonderful to have these available!!!)
(When you want to, you can send them small donations too.. I've done that occasionally.)

But you can still learn TONS from them.

If (or As) I come across some good finds, I'll be sure to come back to your thread and ADD them here for you.
