The relationship with your friend has lasted decades. You've been living together. Not something comfortable if you're trying to 'sever' this extremely life-long relationship. It's as though you are family.

She might be starting to go through menopausal shifts and swings?

It's hard enough to live regular life, but when the 'change of life' starts to occur in a woman, it takes a lot of learning some new inner self-management (on her part). Emotions are suddenly sharper to bear for a while. Other unusual symptoms confound things. Maybe she's fighting herself, within her own body? Not just emotional-- it's could be hormonal?

Your presence in her life is important to her. Utterly rejecting her could be super damaging. Give her space, give 'you' space, but be mindful that 'she' is the one going-through serious **** right now. And yeah I know... she's not listening to your good reasoning (which is hard for 'you'-- I understand that place a LOT! LOL).

If the situation were reversed between you, .. then, what would seem the appropriate {compassionate} thing to do? And, remaining 'patient' and giving this time to steep a while, is really good too. Be "present".., and 'detach' the need for you internally to be over-aroused and formally react.
?..That might help her a lot (if she's busy inside, processing everything that's going on). You already know her soooo well. Decades. Let her 'adjust' inside to whatever-it-is with her?

i know what having chronic health issues is like firsthand and i feel for you, you ever need to talk let me know

i'd never completely sever it, i talk to her near daily still and saw her a couple days ago we just arent dating or living togehter currently (she expressed a desire for a possible future at points though) because she'll always be family regardless

which is why i know i'll ultimately be the one there if she needs it, but right now that's not a thing and it's her more than me

i'm understanding of her issues, that's why i'm cool with her and why even still i'm doing what i can

shes got a lot going through her 12th house (cap) and just isn't in a good place, but it's not a connection i can sever

even from an occult perspective ive done a lot of binding **** with her so theres that too, obligations i cant break

im not with that guy, he definitely wants to be, but he's too clingy and seems to feel too much really quickly

i spent the night with him last night and he was just too intense tbh with being all over me constantly couldnt be near him without him touching me in some way im generally affectionate but i couldnt even walk outside for a couple of minutes beside him without that

just a lot of intense **** i wasnt really feeling (he has a scorpio mars and both his venus and mars hit my pluto and his moon might too all hard aspects, 1 conjunction 2 oppositions) very possessive too kept talking about making me his etc

i made a couple jokes trying to keep it light and whatnot but yeah definitely not going to date him

he made me feel like id have to gnaw a limb off to get away if it was ever anything more than just sex and one date because thats all it took for him to be next level intense

it was a bit worse than just being clingy, dont feel like getting into it

with my ex i hope something happens that leads to her seeking help because she can't be ok on her own with everything that she has going on and she really needs to professional help because she's not in a good place at all mentally

i can't see her being inclined to seek it until she hits rock bottom if ever unfortunately

and you're welcome, like i said i know that **** 's hard and it can be really isolating, ans well i know you've felt really isolated with it recently
