My heritage is a mix of Swedish and Finnish, and my roots run really deep, so I was thinking that I'd like to make a list of Nordic themed asteroids and see if they do anything in my chart. There are lists out there of asteroids related to Norse mythology, but I'm sure there are other Nordic asteroids that don't get as much attention.

So, I'll start with mythology since that's easiest...

Norse Mythology:
(I've willfully left out some Non-Nordic Germanic ones, like Wodan and Donar. Nerthus is a bit of a borderline case, since it's uncertain if she is identical to scandinavian Njord or possibly his forgotten sister-wife.)

4894 Ask (first man)
962 Aslög (daughter of Brunhild and Sigurd Fafnirsbane)
4059 Balder (god who died by the hand of his brother Höder, thus setting in motion the destruction of the gods, Ragnarok)

6666 Frö (Freyr, phallic god of fertility, brother to Freya)
1272 Gefion (goddess associated with fertility but also virginity)
122 Gerda (goddess, wife of Freir, associated with the earth)
328 Gudrun (another wife of Sigurd Fafnirsbane)
657 Gunlöd (jotun princess who guarded the mead of poetry, either gave the mead willingy to Odin, or was tricked by him)
3990 Heimdal (god associated with mankind and the World Tree Yggdrasil, has keen eyesight and hearing)
949 Hel (being who presides over one of the afterlives of Norse myth, child of Loki)

191 Kolga (daughter of Ägir who is a jotun and ruler of the sea)

To be continued and added to as I find more... Do tell if you can think of anything significant that I've missed. I've left out lots of geographic ones, because most of them are really only significant if there is a personal connection.

Have added a few new ones, and a bunch of short descriptions. But I think it's time to give the editing a rest and instead check what I have now against my chart.

Mostly focusing on tight conjunctions for now, but also other major aspects if very very tight. Maybe some midpoint conjunctions too.

- Aslög 25°41' Cancer, conjunct True Lilith at 26°18
- Embla 11°26' Cancer, conjunct MC at 10°36'
- Erda 6°27' Cancer, conjunct Mercury at 6°52' (Chiron/BML midpoint at 6°29')
- Frigg 16°22' Scorpio, conjunct Pallas at 15°42' (Uranus/Ascendant midpoint at 15°59)
- Heimdal 14°17' Pisces, conjunct Venus/Neptune midpoint at 14°33' (square Sun at 13°22 Gemini)
- Hertha 10°14' Leo, conjuct Sun/Asc midpoint at 10°04' and Moon/MC midpoint at 10°29'
- Loke 5°01' Aries, conjunct Descendant at 6°46'
- Nanna 11°06' Virgo, conjunct Moon at 10°23'
- Nerthus 10°20' Leo, conjunct Sun/Asc and Moon/MC midpoints, see Hertha above
- Tyr 25°16' Gemini, opposite Uranus at 25°13' Sagittarius
- Walküre 20°14' Cancer, conjunct Black Moon Lilith at 21°37'

- Akka 15°07' Libra, conjunct Antivertex at 15°59'
- Louhi 20°04' Taurus, conjunct Venus at 21°52'
- Pohjola 7°16' Leo, inconjunct Neptune at 7°15' Capricorn
- Tapio 6°37 Gemini, conjunct Venus/Chiron midpoint at 6°36'
- Ukko 16°01' Gemini, conjunct Venus/MC midpoint at 16°13', sextile Vertex at 15°59 Aries
- Vellamo 6°47' Cancer, conjunct Mercury at 6°52'

Other interesting stuff:
- Balder, Höder and Freia conjunct across Aries Point (Pis/Ari)
- Thora and Kalevala conjunct DNA, Vala and Hyperborea trine DNA from Capricorn, Louhi trine DNA from Taurus, Walhalla square DNA from Gemini, Walküre sextile DNA from Cancer.
- First two degrees of Virgo are very busy: Dionysus, Haltia, MakeMake, Nessus, Amun, Iduna, Reiki and Väinö... Not sure what to make of it, but it looks kind of powerful.
- Pisces 14-15 has another interesting cluster around my Venus/Neptune midpoint: Venusia, Heimdal, Ilmatar, Heyerdahl, Autonoma, Njord and Magni.
- Sampo conjunct Urania, Skepticus and Logos

Thanks MoonMystic! I added your finds to the list too!

I only got through the mythological asteroids yesterday, so I need to keep looking into my chart. Thus far I find it most significant that Nerthus conjuncts Hertha on Moon/MC and Sun/Asc midpoints. That's a big Nerthus presence! And Erda/Jord on my Mercury. Earth goddesses seem to be making a splash. And sea goddess Vellamo also on my Mercury! The 14-15 Pisces cluster is also rather marine-themed, as well as venusian... it really fits with the Venus/Neptune midpoint.

You're welcome. I might have more in my collection, I'll take a look today.
Have you any Odin/Wodan aspects? Be interesting if you have cht comparison aspects with these too. I really like
this study. You delved pretty deep.

I have Odin at 27°48' Gemini and Wodan at 26°30' Virgo. A loose square between them but no close aspects to planets or angles, apart from Odin being Quintile the Moon. Not by longitude at least. I didn't look at declination yesterday, but by declination Odin is out of bounds and parallel to my equally out of bounds Mercury. And Wodan is parallel to my Descendant.

I'll have to have a look at the declinations for the rest of them too...

- Njord and Höder closely parallel each other and Ascendant
- Nerthus parallel Mjölnir, both contraparallel DNA, Vanadis parallel DNA
- Nanna, Thora and Jormugandr all parallel each other and North Node
- Tyr and Walküre parallel each other and Sun
- Vala contraparallel Odin and Mercury
- Haltia and Tapio parallel Venus and Lempo contraparallel all three
- Kalevala parallel Pluto
- Mielikki and Ilmatar also parallel DNA, but further away than I would like with asteroids
- Sampo parallel Sun and contraparallel Saturn and Uranus
- Tellervo very closely contraparellel Saturn

Do you think that an asteroid being stationary has any significance? I noticed that a few of the Finnish mythology ones are stationary in my chart. Akka, Lempo and Mielikki.

I kind of feel like the declination aspects make for a clearer picture. Like Walküre and Tyr parallel Sun... kind of makes sense that I'm not easily intimidated, lol!

A few are already on the list yeah, but no worries. Of the rest several are really good stuff MoonMystic! Thank you!

Some are a bit iffy when you know the languages. Some of the ones with a Swedish interpretation don't really work without the diacritic marks I don't think, the pronunciation just becomes too different. An 'a' sounds completely different to an 'å' and same with ä and ö. So as a native speaker I would hesitate to consider these: Oka (Öka = 'to increase'), Lada (Låda = 'box' or 'drawer') and Angers (Ånger = 'regret', this word also has no plural in Swedish so no -s would ever be added at the end). Not sure where you got the meaning 'truth' for Varda, but Vårda would mean 'take care of' in Swedish.

Adding these to the list:

6717 Antal (Swedish for 'quantity' or 'amount')
4882 Divari (Finnish for a second hand shop, usually one that sells books, records and magazines)
9751 Kadota (Finnish for 'to disappear')
2737 Kotka (city in southeastern Finland, name means 'eagle')
4405 Otava (Finnish for the Big Dipper in Ursa Major, name refers to a type of fishing net used to catch salmon)
1882 Rauma (old city on the west coast of Finland, name means 'stream' or 'current')
1180 Rita (Swedish for 'to sketch' or 'to draw')
5220 Vika (Finnish for 'flaw', 'fault' or 'defect')

So as a native speaker I would hesitate to consider these: Oka (Öka = 'to increase'), Lada (Låda = 'box' or 'drawer') and Angers (Ånger = 'regret', this word also has no plural in Swedish so no -s would ever be added at the end). Not sure where you got the meaning 'truth' for Varda, but Vårda would mean 'take care of' in Swedish.

Nadja, it's ok, I removed the list, some might have been poorly noted by me. I have a small note pad and my hands malfunction often, maybe I put wrong notations somewhere. I'll try and learn where I got those, meanings. Sorry. I do sometimes go back to even antiquated languages when I find them, perhaps that happened.

You do have a wonderful collection tho! ☺

2832 Lada is interesting though, even without a Nordic connection. Seems that it's named after a Baltic/Slavic goddess associated with beauty, fertility, love... I'm always glad when I find new mythology-related asteroids!
