Someone I'm very interested in and intrigued by has Bacchus conjunct his North Node exact in Scorpio in the 5th house. At first glance, that's a little concerning right !?!?

That's what I thought at first, but I'm wondering if this Bacchus placement is different somehow? This man is very Saturn heavy with Sun/Moon/Mercury in Capricorn in the 6th house, Saturn in the 1st house and Jupiter and Chiron in the 10th house. He is VERY straight laced, responsible and religious but a total sweetheart and very kind. If he's into excessive behaviors (ahem, like org**s) you would NEVER know. He does not excessively party, drink or gamble either. He seems to be secretive as well, not showing his true self, with his Sun tightly square his Pluto so maybe he's very good at keeping things hidden?

I'm just racking my brain trying to figure out his Bacchus placement. Maybe, because he's so Saturn dominant, his life purpose will be to excessively (Bacchus) transform (Scorpio) his sense of self, be more selfish and child like, to learn to have more fun and be more creative (5th house)? Of course, I could be totally wrong and this placement is everything you would imagine, which I have no problem with FYI

To add to this, my Saturn and Mercury in Scorpio are tightly conjunct his Bacchus/North Node. Would this mean I'm holding him back or delaying expression of his North Node, or teaching him how to express his North Node?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Bacchus is too much self indulgence and the NN does come to be so it is important to think about this

I have been thinking about this. Bacchus conj the NN could make him really self indulgent especially sexually but if he had a strong Saturn like Saturn trine Mars, that would help.

If he had a weak Jupiter like Jupiter sq the Sun, that would worsen it.

He has Saturn trine Venus and MC, opposite Mercury, conjunct Ascendant and square Uranus but no contacts with Mars, but his Mars is trine Pluto. Huh, he does have Sun square Jupiter - that's interesting. I wonder how my Saturn and Mercury would be affecting his North Node/Bacchus?

I'm interested in this aspect too, Bacchus konjunct NN! I read an article about it and it said:

quote:

Bacchus Conjunct the North Node
Bacchus is “wild living” as in orgies of all kinds—sex, food, you name it. If it can be done to excess, Bacchus will want to do it. Hence, this native could be prone to get tired of one woman in a monogamous relationship. Remember, that which conjuncts the North Node becomes a life theme. If the native does not “satisfy” the life theme, he will struggle with it.

The article is here: https://mychristianpsychic.com/journal/astrology/will-he-sleep-around/

So as I understand it, it's about indulging. The person could be prone to addiction, but doesn't have to be.

I think it would depend on the house in which area this possible indulgence could manifest? Like in 8th house it could mean sex, in 7th house maybe a stalker, 4th house food... and so on...

I'd like to offer that BACCHUS has more to do with the harmony of bringing all into the one rather than excluding parts of, and often indulging excessively to the point of damage.

BACCHUS can also indicate a fluidity of gender, or an absence of the traditional expression of- be that the themes and topics that one might view as 'traditional' TO a certain gender. (Fun Fact: Most brains are very UN gendered compared to very gendered!)

Personally, I have BACCHUS conjunct my Sun/Venus, which includes a whole slew of aspects- conjunctions, squares, quincunx, you name it. Very aspected. I also have very harmonious Saturn placements, but a lot of Jupiter as well. There is absolutely a theme of minding overindulgence for myself, something that I typically pay hefty for if I let it get out of hand.

That said, I'm also very untethered to gender and it's traditional expressions. To me, BACCHUS is about demanding all parts be recognized and loved, expressed with joy and intention, rather than restricted and regulated. Taking the life out of parts of life that DEMAND to be expressed with life. (Think of the story of Bacchus/Dionysus, (both of which are conjunct in my chart!) and how when they(Bacchus) came to town and created a city-wide celebration of indulgence and Letting Loose. The story goes that the city was so heavily restricted and controlled that it was a sort of explosive release of energy! In fact, there was even an element of resistance; the King was disturbed and angry at this lax in his control, and refused to engage in the frivolity. As a form of punishment, BACCHUS whimsied the King's mother (and possibly others, but mainly her) to a point of insanity. The desire to let go turned into Real Bad and the mother, horrifically, ended up cannibalising the King.

Essentially the lesson being, if you do not let your desires have some freedom to breathe, they may literally eat you alive. Big Bad.

So in a chart with Saturn and North Node aspects, I would say there is definitely an element of learning to explore these desires. Saturn requires things be done in a certain way- often safely or with some level of learnedness to it. North Node means it could feel new and unexplored, but definitely a soul's call to it!

Conjunctions to this aspect would highlight these themes and make them more prominent when the two of you are interacting. How that plays out would depend on your own expression of your own desires. Typically with NN conjunctions in synastry, the planet person can play the example role, encouraging or discouraging the NN person to behave in certain ways. (But again, free will.)
