I have a question about the impact of the manifestation of asteroids when they contact either each other or the same planet/point in a chart.

Say you have asteroids that typically have opposing interpretations (for example Nessus and Ceres - Abuser vs Nurturer) both conjuncting or opposing the same point or planet. How would one determine which asteroid would have more influence or prominence? In the case above say it was contacting the ascendant or the sun for example, would the impact of both asteroids on the personality of the querent be nullified? Would it result in them cancelling each other out essentially or would one asteroid be more influential?
