High school athletes sue to stop transgender students from competing in girls sports

On Wednesday, three families sued to stop transgender athletes from participating in girls sports in Connecticut, as reported by the Associated Press. The families, which all have a cisgender female cross-country runner enrolled in a Connecticut high school, filed the federal lawsuit with representation from the Alliance Defending Freedom, an anti-LGBTQ conservative organization that the Southern Poverty Law Center designates as a hate group. They filed suit against the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference as well as the boards of education in Bloomfield, Canton, Cromwell, Glastonbury, and Danbury. Connecticut is among the few states that currently have trans-inclusive policies for student athletics.

“Forcing them to compete against boys isn’t fair, shatters their dreams, and destroys their athletic opportunities,” one of the plaintiffs’ attorneys, Christiana Holcomb, said. “Having separate (boys and girls) sports has always been based on biological differences, not what people believe about their gender, because those differences matter for fair competition.”

This lawsuit certainly isn’t the first time people have tried to enact transphobic and trans-exclusionary practices in the name of feminism and women’s equality. The ongoing bathroom bills consistently refer back to protecting women and girls, implying that allowing transgender women into women’s bathrooms or establishing unisex bathrooms for all is exposing women and children to sexual violence and harassment. In reality, transgender people, and especially transgender women, are particularly vulnerable to violence. In sports, Tennessee, Arizona, and Iowa recently introduced bills that would ban transgender athletes from participating in teams that match their gender identities.

Even in professional sports, attempts to micromanage and examine people’s hormones come up again and again, most famously with Olympic gold medalist Mokgadi Caster Semenya. Semenya’s testosterone levels have been subject to scrutiny both in the context of athletic regulations and in the cultural conversation. While dialogue tends to center on science—and interpretations of science—the question is really about controlling people’s bodies. Intersex, nonbinary, and transgender people deserve equal and fair access without jumping through humiliating hoops. Bypassing people’s gender identity and narrowing in on chromosomes and hormone levels strips all people, cisgender, transgender, and intersex, of their dignity.

The Connecticut suit focuses on two transgender seniors, both girls of color, Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood, who are also both sprinters. The ACLU will represent both teens in court.

ACLU attorney and deputy director for Trans Justice with the ACLU LGBT & HIV Project Chase Strangio emailed a written statement on the suit to Outsports, noting, “Today’s complaint filed in Connecticut targeting the inclusion of transgender girls in girls’ athletics and specifically naming Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood is a dangerous distortion of both law and science in the service of excluding trans youth from public life.”

“I have faced discrimination in every aspect of my life and I no longer want to remain silent,” Miller said last year. “I am a girl and I am a runner. I participate in athletics just like my peers to excel, find community, and meaning in my life. It is both unfair and painful that my victories have to be attacked and my hard work ignored.”

Why do sports matter so much? For some students, excelling in sports can lead to higher education opportunities, scholarships, and maybe even a professional career. Sports are also a chance for high schoolers to socialize, build character, and engage with their peers outside of the classroom. Studies show that transgender students experience higher rates of bullying, harassment, and depression, and are even more likely to drop out of high school than their cisgender peers. If participating in sports may help transgender youth feel accepted, celebrated, and welcome in their school, that’s worth more than any medal.

Whatever happened to parents’ rights when it comes to their children in public schools?

In states such as California, you have to be 18 to get a tattoo, 16 to drive a car, 21 to buy a gun, alcohol, or pot. But – if you want to change your gender? You just have to be 12. Twelve. And the LGBT allies at your local public school are happy to help.

Hey girls, need an abortion? Get an excused absence without calling home. Hey boys, thinking about starting hormone treatments? Your parents will never find out. At least, not under the policy the California Teachers Association (CTA) is pushing.

After hearing about the new public school policy, one mom recently commented:

“My high school kids were not even allowed to bring cough drops to school! And now this! Parents should be able to sue school districts… for child abuse.”

A dad also weighed in:

“You have to get written parental permission for an aspirin, but they want to give them dangerous medication and perform permanently-damaging procedures on them … without parental notice or consent?”

Yup. This is an evil, progressive, fast-moving agenda. Here are a few recent headlines:
•In Canada, against her father’s will, a court orders testosterone for a transgender girl
•In Iowa, a bill requiring parental notification for sex-ed is being called “anti-LGBT”
•In Wisconsin, Parents sue public school district for enabling kids to change ‘gender’ without parental consent
•In California, lawmakers killed a bill that would protect parental rights on radical sex education for children as young as kindergarten

The bill in Iowa being debated, HF 2201, would require schools to notify parents regarding material that discusses gender or sexual orientation, giving them an opportunity to inspect such material and decide whether or not to pull their children from certain classes. The extremists say it’s bigoted and intolerant of course.

Just last month we reported on New Jersey, Illinois, and California schools that implemented gay history month curriculum for grade schoolers in which parents were unable to opt their children out of the indoctrination.

But in a breaking story out of Wisconsin, schools in Madison have adopted policies that violate constitutionally recognized parental rights.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council states:

“What’s happening in Wisconsin schools — where kids can assume a completely different identity without parents knowing — has gone on in California since 2013. Michigan since 2016. New Jersey since 2018. If this hasn’t made it to your state, trust me. It’s coming. The other side is moving as fast as it can to get its hands on your sons and daughters. And in so many horrifying cases, it’s too late for anyone to stop them.”

The school district also “directs its teachers and staff to deceive parents by reverting to the child’s birth name and corresponding pronouns whenever the child’s parents are nearby.” This, according to the lawsuit filed last week, is a violation of “parents’ fundamental and constitutional right to direct the upbringing of their children.”

This is also common sense, which, in the last decade or so has left the school building.

Adopted in 2018, the policy stipulates that if a child’s preferred identity is not respected by parents, educators must keep the use of the new names and pronouns confidential.

According to LifeSite News, the Madison Metropolitan School District is pushing the homosexual and transgender agenda, and even has a website dedicated to its “Welcoming Schools” approach. It links to “New LGBTQ-Inclusive Books for the Very Youngest Children” and “18 Multicultural Children’s Books featuring LGBTQIA Characters.”

Please talk to your kids if they’re still in government schools. Ask lots of questions, attend school board meetings, get your hands on the curriculum, and don’t allow yourself to be too busy or naive any longer.

Even if you’re not a Christian, you most likely have problems with this blatant indoctrination as well. And for those who say you cannot afford to homeschool your children, we’re now far beyond the point where you cannot afford not to! Get them out of there.

Completely trampling on parental rights, Canadian judges ordered testosterone injections for a 14-year-old girl that are doing permanent damage to her body, including sterilizing her. In an effort to prevent a public outcry over the state-sponsored child abuse, the court also issued a gag order purporting to silence the father and the media in the case.

However, in an effort to help his daughter before more outrages are committed against her, and to help other parents, the father, Rob Hoogland, is defying the court order mandating his silence.

“I had a perfectly healthy child a year ago, and that perfectly healthy child has been altered and destroyed for absolutely no good reason,” Hoogland told The Federalist.

“She can never go back to being a girl in the healthy body that she should have had,” continued the heart-broken father. “She’s going to forever have a lower voice. She’ll forever have to shave because of facial hair. She won’t be able to have children.”

Hoogland spoke out before, and faced the wrath of British Columbia’s kangaroo courts. Among other absurdities, the court convicted him of “family violence” for continuing to refer to his daughter as a girl. The court had ordered that he “acknowledge and refer to [his daughter] as male,” something he refused to do for obvious reasons (the same reason the parent of an anorexic girl would refuse to pretend she was obese and in need of liposuction).

The father refuses to remain silent, though. “People need to stand up and realize that [the courts are] sterilizing children, essentially, and mutilating them,” he explained. “It’s… state-sponsored child abuse.”

The American College of Pediatricians also labeled as child abuse telling children that impersonating the other sex through hormones and genital mutilation is healthy or normal.

But the courts are not just destroying the girl and her family. When the father spoke out in an interview with Laura-Lynn Thompson, a popular Christian TV host in Canada, the government came after Thompson, too, and ordered her to take down the videos from the Internet. “It’s transanity gone mad here in British Columbia!” Thompson told The Newman Report.

In court, Thompson continually referred to the daughter using female pronouns. And the lesbian lawyer, Barbara Findlay, could barely contain herself. “She almost jumped out of her seat to protest, but her own colleague lawyer, stopped her,” the TV host recalled, adding that the lawyer lied about her in an affidavit but was caught in the lie by the judge.

Still, the court has ordered Thompson to remove all links from her social media, even those posted by other people outside Canada, that violate the “publication ban.” “I must police my own social media platforms,” she said, adding that she told the court that this seemed impossible, and that the judge appears to be listening carefully.

“The father is heartbroken,” Thompson added. “There is nothing left to legally fight for it seems. The teachers, doctors, social workers, lawyers and judges have been activists until now… all of these social entities have conspired to steal the identity of his daughter.”

But this is not over, with Thompson saying this is going to get “much bigger.” “It goes to the heart of our freedoms parental rights, compelled speech, Charter rights for religious freedom and what we allow people to teach our children,” she added. “It shows that all of society now will betray a parent and they will conspire to take the identity of our kids.”

Even some transgender activists such as Jenn Smith are expressing concerns over courts forcing people to refer to people by incorrect pronouns, arguing that society will lose respect for the court if it tries to force people to speak lies. So far that does not seem to be deterring the courts, though, as they get more and more radical.

While this may all sound absolutely insane and criminal to Americans, the reality is that these sorts of abuses are coming to the United States, too. Already, government employees have helped children mutilate their bodies in “sex changes” in defiance of parents’ wishes. In California, this is now a fait accompli as government bureaucrats create “transition plans” for children and hide it from parents.

If Americans do not stand up and put an end to this madness, the lunacy may well put an end to civilization.
