Hi there
Can anyone tell me if Green Quartz is the same as Aventurine? Both looked the same to me but i am not sure whether the shop labelled it wrongly or if they are actually the same thing!

Raindew...a BRIGHT and CHEERFUL WELCOME to the site...

I looked up adventurine in my crystal book and they listed it under quartz-green. So I guess it is

Thanks YIVY.
Can u recommend a crystal for a friend of mine who is expecting their first child? She is a little nervous about her new experience and delivery especially. I am thinking of some stone that will help her to overcome her fears ! Could it be then Garnets or Citrine?

Moonstone or rose quartz would be my best suggestion. They both are tied into the feminine energies, and tend to calm you down.

Let us know if she does OK, Raindew

Not just a 'cappy' thing, Randall.
I like garnets too. And my stepdaughter's middle name is garnet so she likes then for that even tho she is Aries.

Garnets are worn to enchance bodily strength, endurance and vigor. A good protective stone. VERY useful to prevent violent action against one.

Garnets are exchanged between parting friends to symbolize their affection and to magically ensure that they meet again.

HEy, this is interesting. They are worn to repel insects

Garnets are one of the Aquarian stones, and they help to keep passion alive in a faithful relationship.

My engagement ring is a garnet, and it *works*! lol

Think it just repels 'pesky' bugs, not nice ones. HEY, might try it with mesguitoes (I know...I didn't spell that right, but my dictionary is way in the kitchen), and see what happens

I can't believe I missed this thread! (Happens every once in a while ) I know very little about crystals, so I've enjoyed reading.

I love Garnets myself, probably cause they're red

Ah...ladybugs

Hmmm...does anyone know which is better, polished or unpolished? To wear as a necklace. As long as their energy is the same I'm thinking about buying them again to wear as a necklace and I love the polished ones.

Some stones are unsafe to handle on a reg/prolonged basis unless they are tumbled (polished)

Quartz are usually safe.

I've been starting to work with Rubies. I have a tumbled ruby stone I've been keeping in my purse and have been wearing ruby earrings. Going to bed with them on, (really only take them off when I go in the shower)

But I am the type that usually falls asleep immediately when I lay down and go to bed...
but lately I have not. It's 4 in the morning!!!
Starting to wonder if it's the ruby influence.
(but then also I don't have to go into work as early so that could be it too. Anyway I think I'm gonna try taking them off at night and see how I do.)

Also a neat experience while wearing the Rubies...I ran a half a mile with out stopping. Never done that before.
Hey hey, they say Rubies are associated with Mars now.

I'm gonna keep my eyes out for garnets. I bought lots of semiprecious stones up north. But I have enough bug bites on me to look like I have the chicken pox. They always bite me the most. Even when I have bug spray on and I wear layers and my skin is covered I still get bit! A LOT.

I am willing to try anything at this point.
