I have always herd of spiritual healers but have never known exactley what it is that they do. Is it for medical? spiritual? I was put on some medications a couple years ago that I truley believe I was misdiagnosed with, so I stoped them this January.I feel they made me age ( I always have had a very youthful face ) I feel the medication shortend my memory span and a few other things. If the problem ever arrises again where I would need to see a Dr. I would like to try an alternitive method. I really don't think when you get medication to help one part of your body it should destroy another part. So what exactly is it a spiritual healer heals?

The ones that I have been to, heal by balancing your chakras, with crystals. My grandmother was a healer and she healed with prayer, herbs and secrets (that I was not allowed to know)....of course, I snuck around her healing area taking peeks and she used candles, incense, prayers, chants and anointed the sick with sacred oils. Her magick was very powerful. She was an Angel  ------------------

Wow! that sounds so interesting! when people would come to her to be healed what type of things would they get healed? And how would one find a spiritual healer? Obviousley they're not in the phone book. Is it just word of mouth?

The one instance that stands out, was a mother carrying her limp,fevered child in to my Grandmother. The Child had been sick for several days. My Grandmother laid him on her healing "altar", for lack of a better word. She prayed, sprinkled him with holy water, made a small broom of dried herbs and swept his little body with it, took a raw egg (still in the shell) and ran it all over his body, chanted, prayed.....this went on for a long time.Then she took the egg and the herb broom and buried them in the yard, came back inside and continued praying and chanting. Of course, candles were lit at her little altar. Shortly after that, the boy opened his eyes and got up off the bed. He was weakened, so she made him some tea out of roses petals from her rose garden. He perked up and walked away with his Mom.I have seen her take care of a child with a huge gash on his head, unconscious....4 days she prayed and took care of him and he regained consciousness.  Some cities do have spiritual healers listed in their phone books. ------------------

That would have been amazing to see! To be able to watch sombody who was able to do somthing like that! Your grandmother must have been an I will take a look in my phone book tonight, the city I live in is an ok size but Toronto is about an hour away and would more likley find one there. Next time Im there I will have a look.

Rue, allow me to tell you about my brand of Spiritual Healing. I am a Reiki channel. Reiki channels can make available an energy we call Reiki to ours-elves and others. This energy heals anything and everything ~ within times that range from a few seconds to a few months. What do we 'do'? Nothing. We just connect the 'healee' to the source of Reiki. The energy then flows from this source to the healee of its own accord. Reiki is an 'intelligent' energy. It automatically goes where it is needed, and in as much quantity as needed ~ neither more, nor less.  Also, the effectiveness of Reiki does not depend on the healee's religious or spiritual beliefs. There are various stages in a Reiki channel's education, and these are called 'degrees'. A 1st degree channel can transfer energy to the healee by laying their hands over them. 2nd degree (and above) channels can send long-distance healing too; the healee need not be aware of it. (I am a 2nd-degree Reiki channel.) There must be some Reiki channels in Toronto. A search on the Net may help. For more information on Reiki, check out www.reiki.org ------------------

La-Tee-Da, I'm impressed by your grandmother's knowledge of healing! She really was an Wouldn't it be wonderful if more people in our society knew how to use natural energies to heal each other?  ------------------
