Hi, everybody!

I KNOW it sounds silly, but past few days I have a need to eat paper (not for a lunch, but snack it).

Have you ever been in a need like this?

I'm glad to hear you're not eating it for lunch but just using it as a snack.

Thank you, Randall!

I am sooo haaaapy I didn't get that far to eat animal faces!

I'm not pregnant, that for sure, and I admit I used to have such phases when I was younger.
I guess springtime pushes me to change my nutrition habits!
It was interesting to find out it has a name. Pics.

You might want to consider a vitamin/mineral supplement.

Dreamflake, just make sure it's recycled!

No, seriously: when I read your posts I remembered when I was little I liked to taste some paper from time to time, but what I mostly liked to nibble on was the plaster on the wall - it had a nice gritty texture I think this went on only for a summer or two. But I remember that many kids our age (not babies but aged 6, 7, 8...) liked to taste some sand or dirt etc.
Maybe you're going back to your childhood, haha

Hey dreamflake that is interesting, I do hope you look into some kind of supplementation. When the body has wierd cravings like that it means it's so defficient. I crave lemon or limes with salt and I don't know what that is either. I think my first post ever was about that LOL

Eating paper is often (not always, but usually) a sign of iron-deficiency anemia. I used to eat paper all the time as a child. Once I was on iron supplements, I stopped. I think Piscean types tend to suffer from anemia and those with an afflicted Mars. There are also homoeopathic iron supplements if you aren't comfortable with the standard ones.

I used to do this...have no idea why. Paper contains fibers. Maybe that's what you need.

I realize that I am a tad late on this one; but has anyone had the urge to eat chalk or Vicks Vaporub or bite on nails? I used to bite nails (construction nails) when I was little, that's why to this day I have little chips in my front teeth. I definately used to like to eat paper too.
I feel like the biggest weirdo, especially since I feel the need to share this with others.
Man, this is so weird I feel calm, like I'm on an island paradise as I re-read the end of my post.

Chalk--calcium deficiency

Nails--anemia (although they are usually not made of iron)

Vapor Rub???

Ive had some strong cravings for dirt. Yes, dirt. And I hesitate to say it, for fear of being labeled "sick" or something, but what the hey...Ive had cravings for blood too. Like very rare meat and such, and I dont really eat meat. The pickle craving is deemed more "normal" I guess, and I give in to that frequently....lol.

Most likely, you need iron supplementation. Stay away from ferrous sulfate as a source.

NO offense guys ,but I haven't laughed so hard in ages! Vaporub?, I sorta understand cos of the smell and texture sometimes I'm almost temted to take a bite of oatmeal soap for instance!!.
But seriously, dirt and paper are very normal I've always known kids to do that, there similar to elements found in plant foods and if the kids aren't getting enough they take matters into their own hands (literally!!), gees my sides are aching!!

If anyone has any good recipes for a dirt & paper dish, let me know.

Perhaps with a lite glaze of Vapor Rub?

I used to eat a lot of paper too, but I was careful on the lined paper, not to eat the red line. This was also around the time of the red M & M's scare. Weird..

Eeeew you guys. You're making a gross joke of satisfying childhood snacks. And just to clarify, I didn't eat the vaporub with a spoon or a scoop: I'd sit there for about ten minutes and ingest the rub in increments Thank YOu!

I used to eat paper all the time when I was much younger because my mom wouldn't let me have gum, so I would chew on paper and pretend it was gum, lol. Also, my mom ate an entire jar or vaporub when she was a kid. Here are some weird things i have eaten as a kid:
-a bottle of perfume (had to have my stomach pumped
-a whole stick on butter (I'm surprised I am not obese or have a heart condition today!)
-johnson's baby lotion

paper is fun to chomp on with your molars. i still find myself wanting to roll up lil paper balls and nibble on them from time to time. it could be a vitamin deficiency of some sort, it could also just be a quirk you like, eh??

purplezen, i used to drink perfume as a kiddo too!! all the time!! i remember loving the smell and thinking it would make my breath smell like a flower garden!! never had my stomach pumped *ouchie* but my mom did have to call poison control so many times that their number was posted in our kitchen!!!

Perfume????? For the love of God! You guys did this more than once? I too thought that perfume would make my breath smell sweet but I took a taste and that was the end of that. Perfume tastes so bitter.
puplezen-how could you eat baby lotion on a regular basis? It was so dull, you know. It didn't have a sharp taste that's why I wouldn't eat it after the first time, or maybe the second.

You know one time, completely on accident, I got some deoderant in my mouth. My throat was dry as anything for hours. Everytime I swallowed It was so uncomfortable. But I do have a faith in deoderant that I might not have had before.
