I have had problems with my back for years and am to the point of needing help with it. I have never been to a Chiropractor before but am feeling the need. What, if any, experience have you had with them? I`ve heard both pro and con. I`ve very nervous about taking the step. Please share your insight. juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |

Hi Juniperb,My back and hips suffered serious pains, which got worse after a bus accident in '02. I started seeing a Chiropractor in May '03 and have had dramatic improvements. For the first 2 months, the adjustments were every week. Then every two, now every 3 weeks. IP: Logged |

hello juniperb!i always had mixed feelings about them as well....but, my midwife, who is a very wise soul, has a chiropractor she adores. she will go in for one session with him and come out feeling so much better. and he basically does a laying of hands mostly i think. i can ask her for a reference if you like, even though he is in texas he surely will link up to other reputable chiropractors...plus, she has been midwife to a few chiropractor couples as well that sound amazing! i think if you do research and follow your gut intuit you can find a good chiro for yourself...just have faith, patience and an open mind....that is how i met my midwife who helped me through all kinds of obstacles to have an amazing natural birth... *good luck* and let me know if you want any ref.'s and how it's going.... i would like to get my mom a good chiro one day, her epidural during my birth that the doc gave her screwed up her back pretty bad! juniperb, I'm sorry to hear your back needs help...and I for one strongly recommend chiropractic. I love my chiropracter!Several times I've pulled the muscles in my back and he gets me fixed up in a week or two at most. Now, sometimes when you leave the office you're a little sore, but by the next day you can feel a difference. Mine also suggests some mild stretching exercises to be done at home to relieve some of the stress and pressure on the muscles. Feel better soon, and you too Aphrodite! IP: Logged |

My father was a Chiropractor from the "old school" of palpation -- lol. I remember him complaining about the new docs who really were just glorified physical therapists, hooking u up to machines and belts and such. Hope you can find some relief.IP: Logged |

Never been. The neck-cracking scares me. But my good friend's brother is a chiroprachter and she swears by it. She gets "adjusted" every month or so. On the side you might want to look into cranialsacral therapy-it can also be good for suffering due to injuries/operations. I hope you feel better. IP: Logged |

Thank you all It bothered me so much yesterday, I couldn`t sit here and read your insightful responses. Spiria, if you can get references for northern Mi, I`d love some!! I`m very rural and it`s a difficult to find someone close who I can trust. Oxy, it scares me too. It don`t seem that it can be a good thing to twist on an already aching spine & muscles. I know E. Cayce recommended adjustments but particular ones for particular health issues. Nobody around here is familiar w/ him & that is a concern. I trust Cayce and would go in a heartbeat if they knew of him. That would indicate natural health practices. Aphrodite, I`m glad they help you!! I know now I`m going to take the plunge. Now, just to find one I 'feel' good about! Niki & Trillian, thanks for the help. I`m gonna give it a shot. Off to look up cranialsacral therapy. Thanks again, juniperb ------------------ If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. ~James Herriot IP: Logged |
