I just HAVE to share this with you, I'm so excited! Remember that cat that I saw ran over about a year ago and couldn't help it because my country doesn't have a phone service for vets on call? Well, I finally got them to start publishing the numbers in the media! Which is exactly what I set out to do! It took me nearly a year to get past all the beaurocratic bulls*** and everyone, the officials and all, telling me it's not possible, the veterinary clinics themselves being the biggest villains because they actually do not want their phone numbers published since it creates too much trouble for them, imagine that! They even tried to persuade me it's poinless because people who have pets know the numbers already. But what about the poor animals who get run over and don't have an owner? Don't they have a right to be helped? According to the vet clinics, apparently not! I mean, I don't believe the arrogance of these people!! Veterinarians! We have emergency clinics, ambulances, helplines for all sorts of problems for PEOPLE, but none for animals!?! Where's the justice in this?? Everyone I talked to either brushed me off or couldn't believe that in this day and age we don't have a simple number to call if we want to help an injured animal, so it took me quite a lot of energy to even persuade these people what the problem is. Finally, after pestering the Veterinary Chamber, I got through to the president of the admin. board and he pushed my motion through, and just today he told me that the vet clinics got the order to publish these numbers in the media. After the initial reluctance, he proved to be a great man, I'm really grateful to him. Perseverence does pay off I still can't believe it really happened - I will check on them, of course, but now, even if they don't follow through, I have an official document from the Chamber with which I can make them do it! YAY!!!

I know this might not seem like a big deal to some, but it is to me, especially since I'm not used to getting things done the normal, official way... The reason I wanted to share this with you is to let you know I was not all just talk when I said I will do this, and another is that you are a big reason why I succeeded - when you offered me so much support, especially you, Juniperb , I wanted to justify it, and it kept me going when I thought of giving it all up because it really seemed to go nowhere, I kept running into walls since this motion had already been discussed and rejected in the past and because of that, I was told, nobody wanted to re-open the case, so to speak - but somehow I made it, and I still don't know how come. No, I do, actually, since I do believe in what Linda calls miracles
Oh my gosh, this sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech, sorry all
