Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has seen/used any belly dance teaching VHS or DVD?

I checked Amazon and there seems to be several, but the choice is always tricky so I'd be most grateful for recommendations. Also any word of advice would be great.

I've always liked oriental music and would like to find out more about the dance & practice it. I'm not a great dancer and in general don't feel that comfortable in my skin, so the best way to learn would probably in a group. Unfortunately I don't have that option right now.

I haven't been looking...but they must be out there. A long time ago...I bought a book and record (that's how long...ugh!...vinyl). I took a class at a University, but....they had it late afternoons. Most classes that I've seen are at night. I would need a 10 a.m. class, cas my coordination goes down as the day progresses. but it is fantastic exercise and fun....u could search for those harem pants, finger cymbols, veils, etc. until u find instructions...go for it

Aen, I often catch myself reading your posts and finding similarities between us.
Anyway, when I got crazy about belly dancing I simply went to the library and borrowed as many VHS as I could on belly dancing. I haven't found one yet that it is worth recommending but I'm sure there are some good ones out there. Just keep looking

I did a belly dancing class in the UK. It was great fun and my hubby thought it quite sensual. I've never tried a lesson on DVD but I think it's probably just as good.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi Yin! The feeling is mutual.

*waving*

Thank you all for your kind wishes.

I think I'll just have to keep my eyes open and I'm sure I'll stumble to something good sooner or later. Books and discs just seem to have their own ways of finding people.

Aen-

I have been using Bellying Dancing for fitness from a DVD for 3 years. These are great fun and they really work to strenthen your core muscle groups. I discovered muscles that I did not know I had!

Go for it and have fun. If nothing else it makes you feel sexy and your mind gets a chance to relax. And this is a low impact workout that really does work. AND IT IMPRESSES THE HELL OUT OF MEN!

Love and light
