Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else out there has fibromyalgia. How are you being treated for this? What have you found works? I've just started treatment and I'm on massive doses of vitamins, etc. and have had tons of blood work. I'm wondering if this is all going to be worth it in the long run. I found some of the supplements particularly hard on my stomach at first and now after one month I've had 3 cold sores (never before in my life) and one nasty cold/flu that I dealing with right now. Maybe this has nothing to do with these supplements, but I can't help thinking I'm shocking my system.

Fibromyalgia is often thought of by doctors as just an non inflammatory arthritis, mainly a rheumatic disorder that they can find no obvious physical cause for.

It causes muscular pains, strange sensations in the skin, dry eyes and mouth, dizziness, sometimes insomnia, palpatations. Viral infections such as cold sores are also common, as are bacterial infections. Do please steer clear of hot tubs and public swimming pools!

These infections are due to the immune system being compromised. It is most common in females. Some cases are mild, whilst others are very serious. Some cases go away after the immune system is made stronger by proper supplementation and rest.

Vitamins, minerals, some enzymes and amino acids are needed because with fibromyalgia malabsorbtion is always indicated. It is also noted that those who suffer chronic pain with fibrmyalgia tend to be deficient in magnesium.

Try and eat a well balanced diet. Eat small meals more often this helps digestion and absorbtion. Take a green food such as Green Vibrance or Kyo green.

Massage and exercise can help. Go easy on the exercise though, try gentle stretches nothing too harsh.

Always check your thyroid levels as symtoms of hypothyriodism can mimic FMS.

How long have you had this?

I'm interested to know if you got this after a bad viral infection. Also did you suffer chronic fatigue?

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Gia for your reply,
I'm not certain how long I've had this - at least 10 years. I'm pretty active so the chronic fatigue is minimal - I just get tired around mid-afternoon. Since my brain is pretty wired I don't notice any physical tiredness that much. My doctor says how could I not be fatigued?! I don't know what caused this ---viral, and accident?? I'm on alot of supplements so hopefully they will help.

I haven't really researched fibromyalgia but I've had chronic fatigue a long time. Lately my legs get numb and then I feel pain all throughout my legs. I was wondering if that could be fibromyalgia.

I do not have any numbness in my legs. Do you have this after sleeping? in the middle of the day? all the time? Numbness could be many things and it's important to figure out when and why and then take this info to your doctor.
Numbness can be:
related to sciatica
related to diabetes (feet)
orthopaedic problems with your spine
early neuromuscular diseases
among other things
