Ive just started trying to eat healthy about 2 weeks ago and I have successfully stoped drinking sodapop except for occasionally, I have been able to effectivly decrease the amount of fat and calorie content in my cooking, and I have lost 5 pounds. Yay! hehe. However Im having a hard time with 2 things, one is eating enough fiber and the other is finding low fat snacks that I actually want to eat between meals. Im cant stand eating raw veggies, so thats out. Fruit is healthy and has fiber in it so I try to eat as much of that as I can except fresh fruit is a little expensive and everyone here eats it before I get to eat it...lol. But what I want to know is what do the rest of you snack on that you feel is healthy and also ideas on how to get more fiber in ones diet. Thanks IP: Logged |

Hi!You gave up soda? Gasp - I've tried that, and I think I actually started going into caffeine withdrawals. Hmm, what are some good healthy snacks... Do you like granola bars? They must have about a gazillion different brands and flavors at the supermarkets, and they're pretty healthy, aren't they? Some of them have a lot of sugar in them, but you can find kinds that are more specifically geared to be healthy rather than just energizing. And then they make ones with dried fruit and nuts in them - mmmm! There are also some great healthy breakfast cereals that make good snacks. All sorts of fibrous, grainy, nutty cereals that you can just munch on. I'm pretty sure that those are healthy. Ooh, now I'm hungry. IP: Logged |

Miss Apples, I know that everyone is different but for me raw veggies have been the miracle food. They fill me up, they keep me regular, they give me energy. You can only benefit from eating them. I know I do. IP: Logged |

Air-popped popcorn is my favorite. The microwave stuff is nasty...full of hydrogenated oils and unnatural flavorings. Top it with a little olive oil or buttery spray and some nutritional yeast, or a little parmesan cheese if you're still eating some dairy.Kashi makes some wonderful crackers called "TLC" (Tasty Little Crackers) that are made from whole grains with no refined sugar or hydrogenated oils. Wal-Mart carries them now. They're available in several flavors. Check your local health food store, too! You can find lots of tasty, healthy treats. Good luck with your new eating program. Yin I know that veggies are very healthy and everything, I just cant stand the way they taste, excpet for carrots. I know I need to get an air popcorn popper. I read that plain air popped popcorn is one of the most healthiest snacks, its all the butter people put on it that makes it bad. I dont usually go to health food stores because they are kind of expensive and they are in the mall and my fiance doesnt like going to the mall and I dont drive. IP: Logged |

first off congrats on your weight loss! i get a lot of my fiber from cereals which i happen to love and snack on throughout the day as well, but if its not for you, you can try switching to a higher fiber cereal like raisin bran or wheaties for breakfast. slipping some yummy kidney or other type of bean in your salads or dishes is also a good way. some snacks i like to munch on are vegan beef jerky which is tasty, flavorful, and low cal. dried peas and nuts are tasty too in moderation. anyway, you'll find what works for you, its usually different for everyone, good luck!IP: Logged |

Hiya,You might want to try baby carrots with hummus. If you've never had hummus before, it's made from chickpeas, and comes in many different really yummy varieties.

btw...consider buying big carrots and chopping them up for more flavor. Baby carrots aren't really baby carrots at all. They're big carrots that have been soaked and cut and manipulated by machines.MmmMmmmMmm...hummus.... IP: Logged |
