"I wish ignorance were bliss, but I'm not convinced"

I'm floored. You never cease to amaze me. Someone should put that on a bumper sticker. It's almost zen-like.

Trill, will you marry me?

26T I hope you're settling into your new place; I'll e-mail you soon.

Tink! I miss your presence here; we don't hear enough from you and your wise ways. I know you pop into GU now and then, so I should make an effort to read that forum more often, if for no other reason than to read your thoughts. Bumper stickers, eh? Let's print 'em up!

SunChild Thanks for allowing me to pretty much hijack your thread. Sometimes it's so hard to decide what to eat, and what not to eat.

By the way, I walked into work this morning and found my copy of _Policically Incorrect Nutrition_ on my desk. Here are a few excerpts from the chapter on green tea (and really, black tea too, for the same reasons):

quote:
...today's green tea is not the same as it was a hundred years ago...Green tea is becoming increasingly more contaminated with fluoride than ever before because of the use of fluoride-containing pesticides and fertilizers. Unfortunately, as a result of widespread water, soil and air pollution from phosphate fertilizer plants, even organic green tea cannot always escape increasing contamination. ...Most teas evaluated exceed the maximum fluoride contaminant level of 4 parts per million set by the EPA for drinking water. Any person with a lifetime of consuming more than the established contaminant level is expected to to develop crippling skeletal fluorosis (denser, more brittle bones).

The entire book is a very interesting read, and I say this even though he also believes that a vegetarian diet can be harmful (although he does take on the FDA and the use of antibiotics, etc. on farm animals, and recommends only organic milk/dairy products and free-range animals).

For antioxidants, he recommends organic fruits and veggies, some supplements, and...dark chocolate! Dark chocolate has four times the amount of antioxidants as green tea per serving.

Love to all the lovelies.

No worries trillian
I love dark chocolate, now I have an exuse to eat more. I bought some with 85% coco. Good with rich black coffee...I wonder if coffee is that bad? Apparently there is antioxidants in coffee beans, and they can survive the roasting process.
I guess it's the caffene you have to be careful with.

Tink--Ireland? You are indeed a woman after my heart. My bags are packed! We could find a little cottage on the west coast... Heavenly!

SunChild I honestly don't know much about coffee, and I drink it only on rare occassions (ummm, like, if I had a few too many adult beverates the previous night. :blushing . This might sound silly, but the reason I don't drink it is because I don't want to be addicted to anything! And it's so highly addictive...
