Heres what I would like to share with you guys. I don't know how much of it is true.
They say, too much acidity calls for diseases in body and our goal is to alkalinize the body.

Heres a simple saliva test you can do at home to find out:
http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/salivaphtest.htm

And heres a food chart to help you if you fail the test
http://www.essense-of-life.com/info/foodchart.htm

Damn it, I didn't find any meat that is alkaline

Cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment.

I'm going to gripe here... Not because of your post, but because a few days ago I went on "The Master Clense." It's horrible! I couldn't take it for the full ten days, as I was constantly hungry, eventhough the guy claims you'll never be hungry! The first thing I noticed was my alkiline level seemed to be balanced. That really felt great because I've been batteling stomach problems for quite some time. For the last two years, my life has revolved around trying to find things to eat so I wouldn't constantly be sick. My diet wasn't horrible either. Now, that I've decided to go veg. I see this list of veggies that are alkiline! What the hell am I supposed to eat???? No this, no that...

Eh, I'm sorry to rant, it's not your post, it's the idea that everyone says something different is good or bad for you. Half the freakin' food chain is bad for you. Thjanks for the rant I Am That, nothing personal. Thanks for the acidic foods list, I'll know where to balance. No grains???

Hi Philly I'm on a little break while working today. Like you, my head starts to spin sometimes when it comes to food. I have a couple of books on Alkalizing your body, and I've read some websites too. Honestly, it is nearly impossible to completely be alkaline, because of all the other things in our lives. Not just pollution, but the products we use, the thoughts we think, etc.

Personally, I think an eating program that concentrates on whole grains, nuts and fruits and veggies is the best thing on earth.

I'm not fond of the master cleanse, either. I've done a bit of fasting here and there (years ago I even went longer than 30 days, but I have no plans to do that again!), and I found the best thing, for me, was to drink diluted, fresh fruit juices all day. Mostly I drank orange but Dr. Schulze (you know I'm a fan!) recommends anything that's in season. It's always best to make your own juice in the juicer.

Hi Trillian.
I guess I thought if I ate fruits and veggies and whole grains I'd be cool. But when I saw that list of grains on the acidic side of the list I almost lost it. Well, I did.
I've been having the lemonade/cayenne/maple syrup mix every morning and drinking orange juice. Guess what... no acid problems! How is it that I have gone through my whole life hearing oranges, lemons etc. will tear your stomach apart with acid when these are the two most healthy fruits for combating acidity??? That blows my mind! Even now that I'm eating veggies and fruits and some breads, with the lemonade drink and orange juice, I have NO bloat or nausia??? It irks me to think I thought I was going to feel horrible for the rest of my life because I couldn't take the drugs the doc. prescribed and even eating healthy food wasn't helping! And some freakin' cheap ass lemonade, maple syrup and pepper did the trick!!! Not the $400.00 prescription the dick head gave me! I haven't had orange juice or lemonade in ages because of that myth! Even the two and a half days I was on that diet, expelled about 8lbs. of toxins! My pants don't fit!
This is good. But man! The drugs the pharmacutical companies want you to think you need... You can't watch TV without thinking you have cooties or the plague!
One day I was watching TV and I saw a medicine add on there for people who have, I don't know, some sort of leg "anxiety" while they sleep at night. I have had this problem before, but I just got out of bed and took a walk. Now they have a pill for it! Un-freaking-believeable! Another time I saw an add for peri-menapausal symptoms. At the end of the add, in this fast talk they mention any woman with a uterus may be suseptable to such and such reactions! There's a really good chance most women who watched that commercial DO have a uterus.
Well, thanks for the ear! I'm also glad that I AM That posted the list so I can get an Idea of how to balance out the ph levels. I will probably buy some strips since this has been such an issue with my health. (mumbles under breath, a freakin 10 cent glass of lemonade) I think I'll open a lemonade stand!

Hi Philly,

I'm with you on this stuff, sistah. The medical industry...well. I won't get on my soapbox this time. I know some have thought I was creating unnecessary drama, but I feel: whatever it takes to get us to start looking at things differently. Herbs/fruits/grains etc. aren't drastic. Operating and chemo and chemicals...now those are drastic.

We have amazing powers to heal ourselves. But we have to find the right paths for our own healing.

I enjoy talking about these things so much and am so glad to come here and find others who are interested in finding health through more natural methods.

You are talking to an almost "Born Again" naturalist. I do want to handle illness naturally with grace and knowledge. I remember being immortal! When I was a kid and wanted to play, play, play. (As far as kids thinking they were indestructable.) I don't think I went to a doctor for an illness until my first yeast infection at 21! (With the exception of shots, check ups for school.) My parents couldn't afford it.
I remember breaking my ankle and didn't go to the doc! My parents philosophy... "What ever doesn't kill you will make you stronger!" That time I should have gone, because I really messed up my ankle!

I realize I had fallen into that I'm sick so give me a pill. I'm sick of being sick!

Mr. Borroughs really makes a lot of sense about the basic functions of the body and that of the animals we eat. Not just a lecture. Just common sense! I like that!
You posted that didn't you? Well, thank you. I think it will be life changing, really!

Yeah... I just did a PH test strip. Just about normal and feeling pretty good. All food controlled! Talked to a guy at the health food store today who did the Master Cleanse for the full 10 days. He said it was rough, but well worth it in the end! I'll probably try it again sometime in the future, right now, I'm getting some of my energy back.

Hi Philbird,

I am so glad that you are feeling great

I still didn't find a local store that stocks pH papers. I am going to take my tests pretty soon. I am also planning to keep a record when I am feeling down.
Lets see how this works

I found that the PH levels in my saliva differed from that of urine. Since the unine is the by product of processed foods, wouldn't the saliva test be more accurate?
My saliva test was a lower PH balance than my urine test. I still have some alkalizing to do though, it's not perfect.

Well, I have been on a fruit and veggie diet with a few nuts and grains. Watered down juice too. Every morning I make the lomonade/cayenne/maple syrup and have a few glasses throughout the day. I haven't felt this good in a long time! Stomach wise. I have been eating mostly alkiline foods, but my acidity level is still a little off. I need something else, but I'm not sure what it is. Any suggestions? Every now and then I reach for a Zantac, it helps, but I don't want to take meds.
I know once I do the full 10 day Master clense, the rest of the excess acid will most likely go away. But until then...

Hi Philly,
I would tell you what I do during meals. I would always eat lot of greens with my meat/sea meals ( I had observed this in case of a Greek American who wasn't hospitalized till 70). Doing so, kinddof balances the acidity with alkalinity. Also certain minerals are available abundantly and easily available in sea foods. Therefore, I really am not planning to go pure veggie soon.

These greens are not just LEttuce. But spinach, FEnugreek leaves, Cilantro, and other herbs.

Also every morning a glass of fresh fruit juice works wonders for me. I drink fresh OJ and Grapefruit juice daily.

I was on a tour of DC, and I honestly didn't get time to go to a nearest store to see my acidity level.

Also I was never feeling down all these times and even today. I am just taking care of myself for the future, because I may not have the time, if I am sick later on (I am at risk and I really hope that such a day doesn't come

Also I heard that fresh coconut water revives a person greatly. It must not be canned. Ethnic stores sells them in whole. It is also easy to break open the coconut and costs only a dollar for all that delicious and pure water inside.

Best Regards,

Heres something for you and others to read on the effects of Acidity:

quote:

Your blood is your 'river of life', bringing oxygen and nutrients to every cell in your body. It MUST remain at a pH of 7.36 in order to be able to continue doing so.

You see, it is your red blood cells that carry the oxygen through your body, and the outside of each blood cell has a negative (-) electrical charge.

This keeps the blood cells from sticking together (they constantly repel one another).

An acidic environment strips these negative electrical charges from your red blood cells and as a result the blood cells start to slam into each other, clumping together, moving slower and ripping apart (remember, cells are very sensitive little devices).

With the blood cells sticking together, they now go through the bloodstream more slowly and less oxygen and nutrients flow through your body.

As a result, your energy goes through the floor.

OMG...I can't believe this I scored more than 7 on the pH paper. Just short of a perfect blue. No wonder I am feeling great.

I did the same test on my friend who is feeling down, and had been thru a viral infection recently. He scored 6.5.
I adviced him to change his diet. Have to see how it goes.

So I guess, this pH factor cannot be ignored. I have one complaint, that is, the papers are very expensive. It cost me 48 dollars. I had to buy it from the surgical stores/supplies. This is not available from usual pharmacies. The web link I gave, provides contact information for catalog ordering. I didn't try it.

I am not sure if I must drink less OJ as its acidic value is 3 and human blood is 7.4. I guess small quantities do not affect my blood's pH. I recently (that is 4 weeks ago) got hooked to OJ every morning. I sometimes even had Grapefruit as its substitutes. I am planning to switch to water melon juice. The only problem with water melon juice is that it creates a spikes in the blood sugar level. Not that i suffer from diabetes. But I thought I must warn

Hi,

I think this was very high quality with a dispenser included. It was made by BMS.
And it had a color chart with numbers. I was desperate to try it out because of my friends conditions so didn't do much research.
