Today I woke up and my tonsil was bleeding! Gross, I know, but does anyone know any remedies for tonsilitis? I've had it for about 4 years and I get flare ups about twice a year, but never bleeding! The doctors just give me antibiotics and I dont like to take them. The infections go away on their own with time, usually, but I'm having trouble kicking this one.

Does anyone have any experience with tonsilitis? Maybe I should just have the darn things removed, but for some reason that seems like a bad idea to me. I read they important for catching viruses/bacteria.

Gargling warm salt water is a good start.

My tonsils have grown back, I had them out when I was 7.
I don't know if I have tonsilitis but I do have a red, sore and irritated throat at the moment, near the tonsils.
I'm staying clear of antiboitics and you too are wise in doing so.

My lazy rememdy is soy icecream to soothe the inflamation, but I will go back and buy the sage tea again. I do believe it may stop the bleeding for you, it does so many wonderful things for the throat.

I also would advise to drink extra water and stay away from any irritants. Manuka honey is good to have a spoon of, it sticks to your throat a bit and catches the irritants, that's how I see it working, but it does really help if your throat is sore.
And like beebuddy said, gargle salted warm water, it is the oldest remedy I know.

Get well!

I forgot to add also that Manuka honey also will help clear out the toxins from an infection.
