They're a very alkaline forming food, and synergize with water very well, they also can make water become more 'wet' and they are also good for tea. If you put lemon in the water before you dip in your tea bag you will notice a much more full bodied flavor in the tea.
I personally prefer to use lemon in tea and herbal drinks.

A drink of one cup warm water with half to a full lemons worth of juice drunk on an empty stomach upon waking helps your liver to detoxify your blood, 'wakes' your stomach up and prepares it for your first meal, helps to alkalise your body (lemons are THE most alkalining food you can consume - together with watermelon) and the vitamin C in lemon juice helps keep your immune system working well during the winter when you tend to eat less fruit. Lemons also reduce mucus production, and have been proven to reduce blood clotting. Lemon juice helps tonify 'chi' (in Traditional Chinese Medicine) and a drink of lemon juice with ginger and warm water before meals helps to increase stomach secretions (Pepsin and HCl) so you can digest proteins better.

Lemons are a great supplement

Also try this: peppermint tea with the zest of half a lemon added during brewing makes an excellent digestive tonic

Hope this helps

Nebel,

I use ginger/green tea. I never thought, or knew, about lemon too. That would be extra tasty. I use minced ginger. I find it in the grocery store by the jars of minced garlic. It tastes so different than dried ginger. It has a kind of citrus smell & taste.

Hmm, I'll have to add a touch of lemon to the water before I brew the tea.

Also, when I go dancing I get a pitcher of lemon, or lime, water. Does lime work in the same way?

Perhaps you all might find this interesting.

The Magical Uses of Lemons:

Gender:- Feminine
Planet:- Moon
Element:- Water
Powers:- Longevity, Purification, Love, and Friendship.

Lemon juice is mixed with water, and the resultant mixture is used to wash amulets, jewelry, and other magical objects which have been attained second hand. This wash ensures that all negative vibrations are cleansed from the object in question.

The Juice is also added to bath water at the time of the full Moon for its purifactory powers.

The dried flowers and peel are added to love sachets and mixtures, and the leaves are used in teas to promote lust.

A lemon tree grown from a seed which was taken from a lemon you have consumed is a highly appropriate give for a loved one, although, admittedly, it's a long process.

Lemon pie, served to a spouse, will help strengthen fidelity, and a slice of fresh lemon placed beneath a visitors chair ensures that your friendship will last.

Obstain a green (unripe) lemon from a tree. It should be no larger than 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Next, obtain some color-headed pins. Every color except black is fine. Now stick the pins, one at a time, into the lemon, until it is fairly bristling with them. Attatch a piece of yarn or ribbon (natural material) to the lemon and hang it up in the home to bring blessings and luck, or to give to a friend. These "lemon and pin" charms are easy to make and quite effective too. A lemon may serve as a poppet.
