First it was a urinary tract infection, which came back again (I just finished my second course of antibiotics), then I find out I'm very anaemic, and now my smear test results have come back abnormal! It's a low level abnormality but I have to have another test at the end of February and I'm pretty much freaked out to know that my cells have changed. They may go back to normal by February, or they may stay the same and do nothing, and I don't even want to think about the possibility they might get worse. I really don't know how I can cope with all this!!! IP: Logged |

Get the CA125 blood test and HPV test done. Ask about a transvaginal ultrasound also. Also a cytological test on your bladder.IP: Logged |

Yeah I may go back to my doctor... I feel just mentally and physically wiped out after the antibiotics and then the shock of this latest problem (not to mention the way the nurse delivered the news). My whole body feels like it has had an absolute blow to it after this week. I'm 'up'-ing my spirulina (B12 and iron) intake as well as taking caffeine-free green tea now to boost myself up. Feel like the stress is all too much. :-/ IP: Logged |

GL75~ Maybe you should consider going back in for a check-up in three months. Best to keep a close watch on these things. I didn't and I wound up with an 8 1/2 pound uterine fibroid that went from pelvis to pelvis.I was hemorrhaging and became anemic before I decided I best see a doctor. Duh! Needless to say, I had a hysterectomy at 33. Luckily, I've never wanted children so this hasn't wreaked havoc on me mentally. If you feel you want children then don't waste time. Get checked out by a different doctor and see what they say. Above all, don't stress! That doesn't help anything. Take care of yourself and please keep us posted. Good luck!

OK Sweetie, I've had abnormal pap smears before and they've turned out to be nothing. You have a few things to consider. First you're just getting over a urinary tract infection second you are anemic third if the Dr.'s suspected something they wouldn't wait untill february to re-test you. My suggestion to you is to get a second opinion. If you are here in the US you can go to a free clinic or planned parenthood. Sending positive thoughts your way IP: Logged |

Ok, thanks for the advice... so far I've only talked to the nurse and not my doctor, who I think I'd rather be talking to than her. So I may do that very soon, especially since I also want to get other blood tests now like to check out my hormones seeing as I have now broken out in tons of pimples! I do want to have children in the near future so all this cervix stuff has got me worried... just want it all to get dealt with and fixed. :-/ Thanks for the good thoughts! IP: Logged |

Hi GLI have had abnormal pap smear once. Turned out to be nothing but, of course, I was a little nervous for a while. I think these days doctors are much rather be safe than sorry which is not a bad thing. Of course, they are also well aware of the fact that while they CAN get sued for the wrong diagnosis, they CAN'T get sued for making their patient a nervious wreck and sometimes the delivery of "bad" news leaves much to be desired. The friend of mine had a biopsy done a couple weeks ago. The nurse called him and said "We have your results and the doctor needs to discuss it with you. He is on vacation until the next week and wants to see you as soon as he comes back. ... No, I can't tell you anything else" Imagine that?! Poor guy spent the week thinking that he is in the last stage of cancer. I hope you are feeling better and the holiday weekend cheered you up a bit

Thank you... yes, your friend must have been beside himself! Maybe it's just human nature to think the worst. :-/ Still feeling anxious about it all and also pretty down about what seems like my ruined health at the moment... I just now got conjunctivitus and have been using eyedrops for that, it's mostly cleared up though. All I can think is that I must be having a terrible health-related transit at the moment. I wasn't in the right mood for sex last night but just did it anyway since it had been so long (being depressed lately means I haven't been in the mood), but I was so dry it was awful (had no lubricant here to use, although I got some today), and then found afterwards when I went to the bathroom there was a slight pink stain on the toilet paper... can you imagine how freaked I am about that especially considering the smear result! I still feel really dry and irritated today and trying to reassure myself that any slight bleeding that might have happened is from too much prolonged friction to an already very dry vagina... like sandpaper scraping away at the lining. :-/ Of course, this is the next thing on my list to get checked out by the doctor but, you know, it was the last thing I needed.
