I do not like it, yet I must work beneath it for 3, 12 hour days a week~~~(as many of us do)

It feels VERY uncomfortable to me.

Does anyone have any suggestions that would help to make my time under the brash, artificial lighting less hurtful???

Thanks

Terri

Keep a purple plate with you for sure! or wear a prple plate disc! (taking a little break from my other thread until i can relax as I was trying too hard and coming up with some nonsense) Purple plates work on all kinds of things! They will probably work on the negative effects of that lighting. Love, Tuxedo MEow

I don't have any ideas but I too hate florescent lights. We have them in my office bldg but i am also with a window so that helps balance. Never thought of the plate thing. I will try that too.
I used to buy natural light bulbs for my home. I always enjoy the light they put out. It just feels right.

I wish flourescent lights were outlawed. I have Asperger's and I hate them. Most people with learning disabilities, mood disorder or neorological conditions have negative reactions to flourescent lighting.

From my experience working with people who have the above conditions, I know of no sure-fireway to allievate your discomfort. But the following could help your body better cope with the stress:

- avoid MSG and caffiene, as these can increase your neurological sensitivity. If you smoke, consider stopping.

- eat plenty of foods high in calcium and other mineral, like leafy green vegetables. Avoid starchy foods, particularly potatoes.

- exercise for 30 minutes a day, at least five days a week. This helps relieve neurolgoical stess, encourages neurological healing and "reconnects" your neurological functions with the rest of your body (in particular your endocrine functions, which will helps your body regulate your daily work stress better). I know as a nurse you probably have a very bust schedule (my mom's been a nurse for 35 years), but really, regular moderate exercise well probably help you more than anything.

Ideally it's best to exercise in the morning, outside in natural light or in room that is naturally lit, if that is possible.

This is way too much information, but I find...

Flourescent lighting.. like the overhead, grocery, mall, office building kind makes me have to go the bathroom. Like I will have the unbelievable urge to 'go', even if I have been constipated forever.
I've noticed it over the years.

What is that about?

I have no shame anymore, I'm pregnant.Lol

I actually really like fluorescent lighting. It's brighter, and much, much more energy efficient than other 'natural lighting' light bulbs.
