I always thought this must be bad for you but someone said it was good for you. Do you swallow your chewing gum?

Can u tell me in wat way it is good?

I know it isn't harmful if swallowed. It's true that the body can't digest it. But the gum doesn't stay in stomach. It progresses relatively intact through the digestive system and is excreted in the stool.

but still am scared to swallow gum

It's definitely not good for you.

Throw your gum away. It's not really "bad" for you. But swallowing synthetic indigestible compounds isn't really wonderful.

chewing gum contains over 30 ingredients, which are not listed on the label. FDA does not require a list of ingredients. many shipments of the gum industry's gum bases have been seized because they had high dirt levels, which include rat manure and insects. chewing gum is 60% white sugar with two teaspoons of sugar per stick.

chewing gum reduces acid in the stomach and hampers digestion. it raises the sugar content of saliva and causes a negative chain reaction in the gastrointestinal tract, as the stomcah gets ready for food that never comes. it is categorized as a food probably because most of it is accidntally swallowed.

I never swallow gum and after reading that, I don't even think I'll be chewing it much, if at all anymore...
