Also, she never says or implies that anyone deserves to suffer. She merely attempts to share things which she believes may bring relief from suffering. Maybe she is right, maybe she is wrong, but her intention is clearly to help, not judge or hurt. It is, however, easy to see how personal sensitivities could lead someone to misinterpret her teaching. But I've never heard Ms. Hay speak cruelly or inflammatorily. She strikes me as a very kind and peaceful soul.

i agree with complaints bout the one-size-fits-all diagnoses, however i found her work very helpful in finding my own path especially with regards to my health, and i also found some of her "causal thoughts" and affirmations helped me too.

i did not find one word in her books that implied that people were sick because they were evil, or that they were in any way to BLAME for their physical problems. i did find encouragement in taking responsibility for the state of my health and life, and though i parted ways with her many years ago she was one of the people who pointed the way and helped me realize i was more valuable/ powerful than i thought.

i also found that in regards to children the thought patterns of their parents and others in their environment can influence them because they are so open as infants. whether some come in here with karmically chosen disabilities or illnesses, i live too much in this world to be sure, but i suspect some of us DO choose a physically challenging life for whatever reason...

but whether it is a matter of being told over and over not to be "so smart" or "who do you think you are" or just plain fear in the environment, our children are a part of OUR trip too. otherwise they would be someone else's children. IMO!

so while i can understand why some people see it that way i don't think there is an accusatory word in her books. we are so conditioned to think much of our lives is not in our control, and i think she is trying to point out that we have much more power than many of us think. though she chose to heal her cancer without medical help she nowhere suggests that anyone should imitate her. she does say that she knew that no surgery could heal her if she didn't ALSO heal her thought patterns, so she chose to prove to herself that she could do it without medical interference...i don't know what i would do if i had cancer, hasn't been an issue, but i do know many people consider their bodies a mystery, separate from their minds and lives, and fixable only by a doctor and drugs. this is not the case in my experience...
