hello WS

my list ~

all purpose multi
kelp
ginseng
b-complex
efa complex (vegan)
zinc
quercetin complex
calcium-magnesium
spirulina
vit c

(all vegan)

my other "negative" supplements, lol...i don't drink alcohol, use any drugs (over or under) except homeopathy, and motrin occasionally for monthly things, or smoke anything. have not for over 10 years. similar to nutritional supplementation.

15 yr veggie girl with the occasional vegan phase.

i do have the occasional caffeine phase...currently i am limiting my caffeine to high quality chocolate and green tea.

i do consume kombucha tea -- a fermented drink, but the alcohol content is below negligible. drunk on kombucha...yay! good stuff man -- practically a supplement as well. also have the occasional non-alcohol wine and beer. it's the taste i've always enjoyed, really, so it's not like i'm missing anything at all. apparently, they have a lower alcohol content than fruit juice.....love them.

so here you have it.....my vitamin/supplement /health overview.

what are you supplement/health secrets?

**edit ~ i had a c-section in 2002 and had the antibiotics and pain medicine in the hospital for that. i tried to avoid the pain medicine, but i was afraid i might not be able to attend to my new babe, so i took that for a few days, 2 or 3, after we were home from the hospital. esp allopathic drugs i try to avoid. i will find a natural antibiotic if needed. i've heard excellent things about oregano oil as an effective antibiotic.

wow -- sounds impressive to me.

if my immune system functioning is very low, i will make miso soup with shitake mushroom for breakfast every morning, with organic brown rice.

shitake and miso -- excellent superfoods.

i take herbal supplements at specific times for certain issues, but not consistently.

i usually miss a few days during the week in taking all the supplements...but i think that's ok, with such an extensive list.

good mega-c dose you have...5000mg+ is a tremendous boost. if i have cold/flu or allergy i will take 10,000 to 12,000mg, or more.

i'm trying to incorporate more nutrients in the form of fresh foods as well.

eating healthy is difficult in the states...it costs so much for fruit/veggies...i usually go to the Mediterranean store in my area...it seems they get good deals on fruit/vegs/etc than regular chains and arent a ripoff. Just today, I bought a HUGE(possibly a month supply) of strawberries for $5....i love going there.

Anybody done Goji berries in capsules?
Supposed to be the ultimate antioxidant.
Last year it was pomegranate...

I don't think there is a thing out there I haven't taken.
I can swallow capsules that look like they were prescribed for racehorses.

I have been known to do three at a time.
One went down sideways once.

Have you ever actually seen someone's eyes out on stalks?
Mine were!!

Oh, I love this topic... Great idea!

I take:
- Fish Oil / Olive Oil supplement
- Maca Root supplement
- Vitamin C
- Vitamin A / E antioxidant formula
- Multi-vitamin
- Multi-mineral
- Barley grass, wheat grass, alfalfa, and cayenne formula (since, I don't always have the chance for a healthy veggie-full diet)

Pretty much, just the basics with a few my lifestyle specific ones in there... LOL!

Just a side note to Libraschoice7...

I noticed that you are taking a pre-natal and vitamin c supplement. It stuck out because one of my aunts that is really into natural supplements mentioned to me once that ascorbic acid (one type of Vitamin C) might be harmful during pregnancy. I had cataloged it in my mind, in case that ever came up (i.e. - I ever get pregnant, LOL). I am not quite sure if that is the case, so I looked it up online...

This is what I found a drugs.com:
----------------
Ascorbic acid is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether ascorbic acid will harm an unborn baby. Some ascorbic acid is important for the normal development of a baby, however it is not known whether large doses or prolonged use of ascorbic acid could be harmful. Do not take ascorbic acid without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant. Ascorbic acid passes into breast milk. Do not take ascorbic acid without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding.
------------------------

I don't know if it is true, whether you are pregnant or not, or how much you are taking, but I thought I would post it anyway, in case you might be interested...

Thank you for the concern...right now I just take prenatals for the extra benefits(faster hair growth, and strong teeth). In the future I'll have to remember about the vitamin C I take when I do become pregnant

Folic acid (keeps cholesterol low), selenium (great for a healthy heart ascwell as dozens of other things), zinc (immune function and also helps keep my face clear--since I have been spiralling backwards), and copper (healthy heart and and prevents strokes).

I used to take more stuff, but now I have to keep it simple just because I can't afford to keep it all up!

I take:
Spirulina
Vitamin C (slow releasing 1000mg daily)
Calcium + magnesium
Evening Primrose Oil, although I forgot to get more and haven't taken any for at least a month.

I used to also take, and have taken at various times:
Chlorella (must do this again soon)
Cranberry
Green tea
Sandra Cabot's liver cleanse
TwinLabs Yeast Fighters
Kyolic Garlic
Olive Leaf Extract
Zinc
Iron
B-complex with Folic Acid
Vitamin D
Immunofort (contains garlic, shiitake mushrooms etc)
Coenzyme Q10
Silicaplex (horsetail)
Selenium

I also use Bach Flower remedies and other vibrational medicine.

I would say the B-vitamins
are the ones I most focus on, because others like vitamin C and such are
easy enough to get from my food, but I think B-vitamins are mainly found in proteiny foods,
so if anyones a veggie remember to take those to keep your
energy grounded

I tried going vegan very harshly and without listening to my body a couple of years ago,
and I was feeling this constant euphoria and lightness, which was wonderful but I learned the hard way that unless
I plan on dying sometime soon I will have to communicate with people and find something which can comfort me here on Earth, to keep at least one foot on
the ground and be able to relate to life

anyone suffering from floatiness?

ok computer. Is that the one that has about 20 compressed vegetables?
I take that but I have to steady myself when opening the bottle.
It reeks!!!!
Imagine cabbage, brussel sprouts and broccoli boiled together, mashed and left to stand for a couple of days.
However once swallowed, I have effectively ingested 42 lbs of green stuff.
Can only be good!
