"Dealing with Depression Naturally" by Syd Baumel
I personally have obtained a copy of this book but never got to read it, only took a glance at the initial contents list. At the end of the book, Baumel also takes a chapter to discuss the "unnatural" means of treatment: antidepressants and eletroconvulsive therapy. Because I haven't read it, I do not know what the author's stance is regarding those. But he does offer various alternative therapeutic options.
I personally might not completely agree on everything written in these books, since I'm a vegetarian and I personally would not consume fish oil. Also, it's a personal choice, too, that I refrain from taking any nutrition supplements, because I perceive those as artificial, hence unnatural, and I only want to obtain the nutrients I need from natural food sources basically.
I used to advocate fanaticallly for orthodox psychiatric medicine, but now, to make it a lot more short, I agree on what Trillian once said here- [orthodox psychiatric medicine is, at best] a necessary evil. Personally, I think the entire mainstream medicine, the treatments, tests, examinations, medications it offers, are evil. Psychiatric medicine in particular. Those physicians in white can kill legally, licensed, so to speak.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Mental illness is becoming more and more prevalent in the modern civilization and it is worth our concern; it could happen to a loved one or yourself. Google the web and it might be just several clicks away to find more natural, unintrusive, alternative ways of healing mental illness, and of course, healing in general.
