of some kind. my sister has lost 4 stone in 4 months. i met with her yesterday and was horrified to see her hair thin and breaking, what appeared to be bruising around her teeth and the shape of her ribcage through the back of her winter coat. she also seems quite pleased with her efforts, boasting that she is a size 6. anyone got any experience/words of wisdom for me? i feel a bit useless about what to say and do. she doesnt live locally (100 miles away, we meet maybe twice a year)IP: Logged |

i don't know anyone in this situation, but i guess if you ask her and try to find out why she feels the need to do that, it might serve her, may be she needs someone else to help her acknowledge her issues. at the same time, i'm thinking may be family members are too involved to help. i'll browse the net for you. don't worry. robyn.c IP: Logged |

this page seems interestingthis one too on this page, they mention a book written by an ex-anorexic who recovered and give many practical tips the author's called Kate chisholm, and back in 2002, The Guardian said: "As with many such memoirs, however, the author's intended readership is first and foremost those who will identify with her experience and have perhaps feared that they were alone in their feelings. In this respect she has written a brave and necessary book." http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2002/sep/01/fiction.reviews

Could your sister being taking drugs? Do you know her friends? Her evening/weekend habits?Just covering bases.... There are counsellors who deal specifically with eating disorders. It can be tough on family and friends who have no control over the victim's behaviour. The victim feels in control of their life because they are the ones controlling their body. It can be a power/esteem issue.
