You might want to add a touch a Tea Tree Oil to your all natural Flea Shampoo:

Will see what else I can dig up....

Good luck!

The first thing I thought of was GSE - grapefruit seed extract...? After reading this, I think bathing them in this may work ..... there's something about a flea bath here
the bottle I get is only ten bucks and lasts forever. There are many more uses for GSE too. http://www.nutriteam.com/pets.htm

Fleas Cause Health Issues for Kittens

Fleas are parasites, and parasites are always attracted to young animals whose immune systems aren't fully developed yet. This is why flea infestation is such a problem with kittens.

A kitten can have hundreds of fleas on her, which not only causes severe itching and skin irritation, but also can lead to anemia from blood loss. Check the kitten's gums. If they're pale, this is a sign of anemia, and it's important to get rid of fleas on her right away.

Fleas carry tapeworms, and if a kitten swallows an infected flea, she'll become infected. Any kitten with fleas also needs to be treated for tapeworms and other parasites too

thanks t! lots of options to check out.

i think the hard part is the actual bathing... ever bathed a cat? i had one who came home after rolling in motor oil one day. of course he was a big tough alley cat but that was a day's work and a half! with the kitten i think fear of hurting him would be a major hindrance...

Motor oil? oh no! That mustve been a tough one.

Yeah, i've tried to bathe a cat before and know how tough it is. I'd imagine a kitten might even be a little bit harder. Let us know how it goes and what you use - and if it works!

baths!!!!

i have 4 indoor cats and when i have flea issues i bathe all of them!

my youngest a fine young lad, former a tree cat, i bathed at around 8 weeks for the first time with flea soap. he did fine, just rinsed him very thoroughly and dried as much as i could.

they do get used to it, the younger you start, the easier it is for them to learn.

i had been dealing with a horrible flea problem since last december and bathing and bombing my house, regularly for several months, was the only way i got rid of the flea, the eggs and the larvae.

best of luck!

thanks guys, yes, bathing is what we've settled on. i am totally against bombing the house unless it's jumping with the little buggers...which happened to me once when i left friends to look after my cat and they brought their dog to the house with them...when i got home i could see the blighters popping around, and my daughter has always been a bug magnet so they were eating her alive.

plus this one is only 6 weeks old and there's a child in the house with immune sensitivities, so we're keeping the toxins out of it as much as possible.

tonight's the night, fingers crossed!

Kat

I loathe chemicals, too, as a matter of fact, took my bfriend MONTHS to talk me into bombing.

But after months and months of being bitten, scratching, itching, (not to mention my job in the dirtiest hospital in San Antonio, no open wounds for me!) and friggin GROSS tape worms on occasion due to the fleas, I relented and bombed a few times and finally ridded my house of the pesty pulgas!

Have you ever heard of this?

Place a tall candle, like a pillar-type, in a low, big, flat pan, lit, like a cake pan, in an inch or two of water, overnight...

In the morn the water will be (gleefully!!) full of fleas!!!

The adults and juveniles are attracted to the light, hop in and drown!

Chemical free, pretty to have in your home night after night, but this method takes patience.

In the meantime, bathe, bathe, bathe!!!

Sir Sox Legolas Heineken Chardonnay, (my latest addition that I mentioned earlier)and I
wish you luck and blessings!!!

he is absolutely gorgeous...! i will definitely try the candle thingy...but won't it have to be too high for the kitten (and maybe also the fleas?) to get at? i've known plenty of cats who didn't have the sense to stay away from candles...

yes i used to trust my cats to use their instinct around candles, but i have seen some pretty dumb cats in my day!! and had one with a fried whisker once - funny if it weren't so sad...

thanks for your help ladies. the home in question has a sinkful of dead fleas now. i will by the candle today so she can try the flea trap.

it reminds me of how we used to put a plate of guinness out in the garden for the slugs to drown themselves in...i always wondered if they went out high!

i think most pet stores will carry it. if you have KITTENS make sure to seriously dilute it!!

but we found plain soap and water worked really well. the worst is over already. after one wash, a sink full of dead fleas, though there are still some around they come in ones now and are easily removed.

it's an ongoing process but worth it to get away without nasty chems!
