hey sunchild,

im pregnant as well but i dont know how far along i am, i haven't been to the doctors yet. but i wanted to know about your take on vegan eating while pregnant. I do eat meat at the moment but i was trying to cut it down to where I eat it 1-2 times a week at the most. what advice do you have on that as far as pregnancy food requirements go? i want to ask my doctor when I have my appt. but i feel that many doctors shun vegan eating especially while pregnant. so i will bring it up but i dont feel that i will get the best responses. I just want my kid to have the best start without all that hormone-filled meat. any ideas?

Hey Mia,

Congrat's!!! That's exciting!

Firstly, especially while pregnant certain elements from the animal kingdom are essential in the development and wellbeing for the fetus and the mother. Veganism is old fashioned, before consciousness spiralled out into higher understanding. I will say however, eating flesh is not the only option and in my opinion is the worst option of them all. Doctors will just tell you to eat a steak three times a week, and chicken every other night, and fish once a week, they are so far behind from where the superfood technology is that it's a pointless chore discussing it with them. I have not eaten red meat in years and years! It is not necessary as it is too dense for you Mia.

The BEST foods to help develop the little human inside you are as follows, (you want protein, b12, complete chain aminos, pollysaccarides, antioxidants, hydration)
Spirulina is still #1 but only contains analog b12, so combine that with marine phytoplankton you have a complete food! Eat plenty of lentils, nuts and seeds, chick peas, sprouts for protein, and as much spirulina, coconut oil, flax oil, as you can get. Lots of leafy greens salads and a loads and loads of fruit! Marine phytoplankton will ensure you are getting enough b12. You can also eat some salmon but keep it to once a week, salmon is VERY good! Bee products are key. Especially the pollen, they contain everything essential to life, and is safer to eat than raw egg yolks, but they are similar, bee pollen being superior. Have you thought about raw dairy? Perhaps try and drink some raw goats milk when you can, make sure it is fresh and from reliable sources. Milk is a wonderful food if taken correctly. What we see on the shelves today hardly resembles the true compisition of milk.

So in a nutshell, eat mostly vegan, eat as much raw whole foods as possible, including lentils, chick peas, nuts and seeds, salmon occasionally, raw dairy occasionally and the only supplements you may need are spirulina & marine phytoplankton.

A day sort of looks like this:

breakfast Raw muesli mix, including flax seeds and goji berries, almonds, oats, cacao nibs, bee pollen, fresh fruit mixed with a raw milk , milk substitute or yogurt

snack Green smoothie, green leaves blended with fruit, spirulina and marine phytoplankton

lunch Garden salad with steamed pumpkin, chick peas, pine nuts, sundried tomatoes, avocado, rocket, sprouts, flax oil, seasalt, lemon

snack Vegetable juice

dinner Salmon, or raw or cooked veggie burger, with side salad, brown rice options... orcan just have a mega salad and mix a little spirulina in the dressings.

Drinks ~ besides juice and herbal tea, YOUNG coconut water is best choice for maximum hydration, and spring water.

Thats a typical high raw, whole food day, that includes everything you need.

You will do great, just eat as fresh as possible and follow your instincts.
